    • An override mechanism is for an electronic door lock assembly that includes a handle, a retractor and an electronic clutch mechanism with a movable coupler and an actuator. The coupler operatively connects the handle with the retractor when the coupler is located in an engaged position and the actuator is operable to displace the coupler between a nonengaged position and the engaged position. The override mechanism includes a movable override member configured to displace the clutch coupler between the nonengaged and engaged positions. The override member also retains the clutch coupler at the engaged position when the override member is disposed at an unlock position and prevents displacement of the coupler during actuator operation when the override member is disposed at a lockout position. Further, a manual drive, preferably including a cylinder lock, is configured to displace the override member between the unlock and lockout positions.

    • An actuator assembly is for a lock including a handle, a latch, a retractor for retracting the latch when the handle rotates, and a lock member displaceable between locked and unlocked positions, which either releasably couples the handle with the retractor or releasably prevents handle rotation. The actuator includes a motor having a shaft rotatable about an axis and a coupler spring disposed about the axis and having a first end coupled with the lock member and a second end. A drive member is coupled or integrally formed with the motor shaft and has a helical drive surface threadably engaged with the coupler spring second end, such that rotation of the shaft displaces the coupler spring along the axis to move the lock member between the locked and unlocked positions. Preferably, the drive member includes a spring coupled with the motor shaft and threadably engaged with the coupler spring.

    • An exit bar employs a dual action latch retractor comprising a slotted link which connects manual and electrically actuated latch retraction means. The slot permits the latch to be retracted by a solenoid latch retractor regardless of the position of the push bar or other manual latch retraction means. A buffer spring transmits energy from the solenoid latch retractor to the push pad so that under normal circumstances actuation of the solenoid latch retractor retracts both the latch and push pad. However, if the push pad is jammed in the projected position, the buffer spring is compressed to permit relative movement between the solenoid latch retractor and the manual latch retraction mechanism. As soon as the force holding the push pad in an extended position is removed, the energy stored in the buffer spring is applied to the push pad through the mechanical linkage to retract the push pad.
