    • A system and a method for identifying computer users having files with common attributes are provided. The method includes generating a first table having a set of attributes for each file in a first set of files associated with a first computer user. The set of attributes for each file in the first set of files have a plurality of attribute types. The method further includes generating a second table having a set of attributes for each file in a second set of files associated with a second computer user. The set of attributes for each file in the second set of files have the plurality of attribute types. The method further includes generating a similarity table by comparing each set of attributes in the first table with each set of attributes in the second table, utilizing a predetermined similarity metric, and determining whether the first and second computer users have at least one file with common attributes, based on data in the similarity table.

    • One embodiment of the present invention provides a shared window into which a remote user can input commands from a remote computer system subject to access control. The system operates by receiving a command from the remote user on the remote computer system, wherein the command is directed toward the local computer system in order to operate the local computer system. If the command passes a filtering process, the system executes the command to a local operating system so that the command can operate on the local computer system. The system also displays the command on the shared window on the local computer system so that a local user can view the command. The system additionally allows the command to be displayed on a remote copy of the shared window on the remote computer system, so that the remote user can view the command. In one embodiment of the present invention, if the shared window is in an approval mode, the filtering process involves allowing the local user to approve the command. If the local user approves the command, the system allows the command to pass the filtering process.

    • The present invention comprises a display unit (10) which displays a composite image (38); a stylus (24) which is used to "write" on the composite image (38); a way of detecting (20) the position of the stylus (24) over the composite image (38); a video camera (12) mounted a short distance away from the video display (11) and aimed at the composite image (38); a light (23) which provides uniform illumination to the composite image (38); a mechanism for preventing video feedback (26); and a computer (22). Images of additional objects (98) can be provided by extra cameras (70) electrically connected in several different ways to the network. To enhance communication between operators (25) separated by large distances, microphones (74), loudspeakers (72), auxiliary cameras (70) and auxiliary video displays (66) can be provided at each workstation (11). Large scale versions of this invention can be constructed. In large scale versions the video display unit (10) is replaced with a large screen (88) and a video projector (90).

    • According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method for cross-service tagging is provided. The method includes creating connections to multiple applications, each application having multiple entities. Relationships are determined between the entities within a single application and between entities across multiple applications. A tag is associated with a selected one of the entities in a first one of the multiple applications. Entities in other applications besides the first application are identified that are related to the selected entity, based on the determined relationships. The tag is propagated across multiple applications by associating the tag with the identified entities in the other applications. According to a second embodiment of the present invention, a method for inferring tags suggestions is provided. This method includes analyzing email messages to create keywords from text analysis, from bringing content and tags from other email messages or directory applications. Tags suggestions from the various sources are merged and weighed according to an algorithm.
