    • Known all wheel steer arrangements use standard spool-type valves which are inherently subject to leakage that results in the front and rear wheels getting out of synchronization due to the leakage. In the subject invention, a hydraulic system has front and rear pairs of steerable wheels respectively interconnected by front and rear fluid actuated mechanisms. A steering valve delivers pressurized fluid to the front fluid actuated mechanism for steering of only the front pair of wheels and to both the front and rear fluid actuated mechanisms to steer the front and rear pairs of wheels simultaneously but in opposite directions. Furthermore, a rear steer valve mechanism is provided to independently direct pressurized fluid to the rear fluid actuated mechanism to steer the rear pair of wheels independent of the front pair of wheels. A normally open pilot operated poppet valve and a pair of normally closed pilot operated poppet valves are utilized to provide control for the various modes of operation and to provide separation of the fluid between the front and rear fluid actuated mechanisms when they are being operated independently. By utilizing pilot operated poppet valves, the leakage thereacross is substantially reduced and the synchronization between the front and rear pair of wheels is generally maintained.

    • A boring tool assembly is provided and has a cutting tool mounted on one end thereof and permits the boring of a straight hole through a member. The boring tool assembly includes a boring bar having integral guide members disposed thereon that follows behind the cutting tool and maintains contact with the machined surface just cut in order to keep the cutting tool in proper alignment. To permit the continued use of the boring bar after the outer diameter of the cutting tool has been reduced due to wear, each of the integral guide members are resiliently mounted on the boring bar. This permits the guide members to collapses inwardly to maintain a perfect fit with the pilot pore while maintaining bearing contact of the guide members with the pilot bore. The positive bearing contact helps to provide a dampening feature for the boring bar and a spring type force for the hardened guide members. A resilient member is mechanically secured in respective slots to provide the resilient mounting of the hardened guide members to the boring bar.

A barrel which is rotatable about an axis includes a generally spherical end face and a plurality of cylinders opening at the end face. A port block interposed between the barrel and the housing is rotatable about the axis. The port block has a first face surface, a second face surface and a plurality of ports extending between the first face surface and the second face surface. The ports selectively fluidly interconnect the plurality of cylinders in the barrel with the plurality of ports in the housing. The first face surface is generally spherical and abuts the end face of the barrel. The second face surface is generally planar and abuts the face surface of the housing.
