    • This document relates to a display apparatus, and more particularly, to a plasma display panel and a mono-layer optical filter for a PDP and manufacturing method thereof. A plasma display apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises a front panel, an EMI shielding film comprising metal meshes formed in a mesh type, for shielding EMI incident from the front panel, and a medium layer formed around the metal meshes, for shielding NIR, and an AR/hard coating film coated on at least one surface of the EMI shielding film, for shielding the reflection of light incident from the outside. A method of manufacturing a mono-layer optical filter of a PDP according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of inputting metal meshed in which a conductive material is formed in a mesh type into a molding unit, injecting a mixture in which resin, a NIR absorbing dye and a color compensating dye are mixed into the molding unit, performing a transparency process so that light can pass, erupting the mixture on which the transparency process has been performed in a thin film form, hardening the mixture and then forming an EMI shielding film, and coating an AR/hard coating film for preventing the reflection of light on one surface of the formed EMI shielding film.

    • A display apparatus includes a plasma display panel (PDP) and a filter having a panel side facing a display surface of the PDP and an opposing viewer side facing away from the display surface. The filter includes an external light shield having a first base unit and first pattern units. The first pattern units absorb external light from the viewer side and are substantially parallel to a first axis. The filter includes an electromagnetic interference (EMI) shield overlapping the external light shield. The EMI shield includes a second base unit and second pattern units. The second pattern units are conductive and substantially parallel to a second axis. An interior angle between the first axis and the second axis can be within a range of 40 to 50 degrees.

    • A display apparatus includes a plasma display panel (PDP) having an upper substrate at which black matrices are disposed. The apparatus includes an external light shield having a panel side facing a display surface of the PDP and an opposing viewer side facing away from the display surface. The light shield includes a base unit and includes pattern units that absorb external light from the viewer side. The pattern units have boundaries defined by intersections of the pattern units and the base unit. The boundaries define widths of pattern tops disposed toward the panel side or the viewer side and define widths of pattern bottoms disposed toward the other of the panel side and the viewer side. A distance between a pair of adjacent black matrices is 4 to 12 times greater than a distance between adjacent boundaries, of a pair of adjacent pattern units, at adjacent pattern bottoms.
