    • A process for producing microfluidic articles comprises (a) preparing a photoreactive composition comprising (1) at least one reactive species that is a polymer or a polymer precursor and that is capable of undergoing an acid- or radical-initiated chemical reaction and (2) at least one multiphoton photoinitiator system; (b) exposing a portion of the composition to light sufficient to cause simultaneous absorption of at least two photons, thereby forming exposed and unexposed portions of the composition, and thereby inducing at least one acid- or radical-initiated chemical reaction in the exposed portion; and (c) removing either the exposed or the unexposed portion of the composition, so as to form a microfluidic article comprising a seamless polymer matrix that defines at least one inlet, at least one outlet, and a microfluid processing architecture that is capable of fluidic communication with the inlet and the outlet and that is otherwise fully enclosed within the polymer matrix.

    • Various embodiments relating to MRI safe, multi-polar active fixation stimulation leads with co-radial construction are disclosed. Some embodiments, allow the use of the generally smaller diameter co-radially constructed body (coated wires) to construct an active fixation lead, with an extendable/retractable fixation mechanism. Some embodiments use a connector assembly with an inner terminal ring, a terminal pin partially rotatably positioned within the annular inner terminal ring, and one or more resilient C-clips disposed within circumferential recesses. The resilient C-clips mechanically and electrically couple the inner terminal ring and the terminal ring while substantially limiting relative longitudinal translation of the terminal pin. In some embodiments, the connector assembly can be connected to an electrically inactive torque tube disposed longitudinally within the flexible body of the lead such that rotation of the terminal pin relative to the lead body causes rotation and longitudinal translation of a fixation helix relative to the body.

    • The present invention relates to a sensing instrument and method for measuring the concentration of an analyte. The sensing instrument includes: a sensing element including at least a first emissive indicator characterized by a bimolecular quenching rate constant k.sub.q, one or more fluorescence lifetimes .tau..sub.o above a lowest lifetime .tau..sub.oL, and capable of emitting analyte concentration dependent signals when exposed to an excitation signal in the presence of quencher; an excitation system which provides an amplitude modulated excitation signal at one or more radial modulation frequencies .omega.; a detector; and a processor. The processor univariantly processes the detected signals and provides output signals representative of analyte concentration. The sensing element and/or excitation system are configured to enable the instrument to operate sufficiently within the condition [(k.sub.q [Q]).sup.2 +.omega..sup.2 ].tau..sub.o.sup.2 >>1+2k.sub.q .tau..sub.o [Q] such that a slope of the relationship between the concentration dependent parameter and analyte concentration is independent of .tau..sub.o variability and/or heterogeneity for all analyte concentrations within the operating range and for all lifetimes .tau. .sub.o greater than .tau..sub.oL.
