摘要： A backlight assembly includes a light source, a light-guide plate, a mold frame and a bottom chassis. The mold frame includes a first bottom portion, a protrusion on a first surface of the first bottom portion and a first sidewall portion on a second surface of the first bottom portion opposite to the first surface of the first bottom portion and facing the light guide plate. The bottom chassis includes a second bottom portion having a hole to receive the protrusion of the first bottom portion, and a second sidewall portion facing the light guide plate. A cross sectional area of a first opening of the hole corresponding to an inner surface of the bottom chassis and contacting the first surface of mold frame is different than a cross sectional area of a second opening of the hole corresponding to an outer surface of the bottom chassis.

摘要： A light-guide plate includes a body for guiding incident light, and at least an inserting portion penetrating a portion of the body, wherein at least a light source for providing the light-guide plate with the light is inserted into the inserting portion. The inserting portion can be formed at an end portion of the body. A side surface of the body can be recessed to form the inserting portion. A light-diffusing pattern can be formed at a side surface of the inserting portion, and the side surface of the inserting portion is substantially parallel with the side surface of the body.

The light guiding plate includes a light-incident face onto which the light is incident, a lateral face facing the light-incident face, and a light-exiting face through which the incident light exits. The light-exiting face being configured to connect the light-incident face and the lateral face. An interval between the light-incident face and the lateral face varies in accordance with a position of each of the light generating members. Thus, a number of LEDs decreases, so that an assembly process of the light illuminating unit may be simplified, and manufacturing cost and power consumption thereof may be reduced.

摘要： A backlight assembly supplies a guided light to a display panel having a main display part on which a main image is selectively displayed, and a sub display part on which a sub image is constantly displayed. The backlight assembly includes a light source and a light guiding unit. The light source generates a light. The light guiding unit includes a light incident surface, a light exiting surface, and a corresponding surface. The light from the light source is incident into the light incident surface. The light exiting surface has a main region and a sub region, the sub region having an optical pattern increasing a luminance of the light. The guided light exits the light exiting surface. The corresponding surface corresponds to the light exiting surface. A luminance uniformity and a luminance when viewed on a plane are increased.
