    • A focal plane shutter has at least one shutter blade group comprised of a leading blade and a set of trailing blades. A first parallel link mechanism is pivotally connected at two spaced locations to the leading blade to effect displacement of the leading blade relative to a shutter opening. A second parallel link mechanism is pivotally connected at two or more spaced locations to the set of trailing blades to effect displacement of the trailing blades relative to the shutter opening. The distance between the two pivotal connections of the first parallel link mechanism is greater than the distance between the at least two pivotal connections of the second parallel link mechanism.

    • A camera system of the type having a lens shutter, a focal-plane shutter, an aperture defined by the lens shutter, and a camera lens, includes a selector circuit which sets an operation mode to either a lens shutter mode in which the lens shutter is operated as a programmed shutter or a focal-plane shutter mode in which the shutter speed is controlled by the focal-plane shutter and the aperture of the camera system is controlled by the lens shutter; a first driving system which controls the lens shutter; a second driving system which controls the time during which the focal-plane shutter is operated; a sequential control circuit which controls the timing of the first and second driving systems; a setting circuit which sets the focal length of the camera lens; an arithmetic circuit which produces an output signal in response to the brightness of the subject, the distance to the subject, the focal length of the lens and the sensitivity of the film; and a switching circuit which switches the operation mode to the focal-plane shutter mode irrespective of the setting of the selector circuit when the exposure value to be controlled exceeds the programmed exposure value of the lens shutter and for switching either the operation mode or the shutter speed in accordance with the set focal length to prevent photographic blurring during camera shake, in response to the output from the arithmetic circuit.

    • An automatic focusing camera capable of automatically focusing the photographic lens thereof by a system actuated by a signal produced by a focus detection circuit when the distance between the object to be photographed by the camera is detected includes an exposure control device comprising an exposure control circuit and an electromagnet. A photographic lens focusing member is movable in response to the shutter release operation and is stopped in response to the magnetizing of the electromagnet. An exposure device is actuated to open to start the exposure after the photographic lens focusing member is stopped, and is closed in response to the demagnetizing of the electromagnet which occurs upon the receipt thereof of the exposure completion signal generated by the exposure control circuit. In this way, a common electromagnet is used for both the focus control and the exposure control to simplify the construction of the camera and to reduce the cost thereof.

    • A focal-plane shutter for use in a camera. The shutter has a driving lever which can be driven with a substantially uniform force. The shutter comprises a closing member for actuating closing blades, the driving lever that urges the closing member to perform an exposure operation, a tension spring connecting the driving lever with the closing member, a brake lever, and an anchoring lever. The brake lever has a retaining portion that retains the closing member in its exposure end position. The anchoring lever has an anchoring portion which, when the closing member is in its exposure end position, moves out of the operating range of the closing member.

    • A control device for the shutter of a camera comprises an opening member for opening a shutter aperture to initiate taking of an exposure, a closing member for closing the aperture to complete the exposure, and opening and closing pawls for respectively retaining the opening and closing members at their charged position. A control member actuated during the shutter release motion releases the engagement of the opening pawl from the opening member, and a governor is provided for delaying the operation of the control member. An interlock lever is actuated by the opening member to release the engagement of the closing pawl from the closing member, and an exposure time setting cam is provided for adjustably setting the motion of the governor so as to shift the interlock lever between its working position and rest position. The interlock lever is positioned at its rest position when the exposure time setting cam is set to its high speed adjusting position so that the control member successively releases the opening pawl and the closing pawl while the interlock lever is positioned at its working position when the exposure time setting cam is set to its middle speed adjusting position so that the motion of the control member is delayed by the governor after the opening member is released from the opening pawl by the control member before the opening member actuates the interlock lever to release the closing member.
