The machine includes: a photoreceptor for holding a toner image on its surface; a charger for charging the surface of the photoreceptor; a laser writing unit for exposing the surface of the photoreceptor so that a latent image is formed on the surface; a developer for developing the latent image with toner so that the toner image is formed on the surface of the photoreceptor in which the developer includes a developing sleeve for providing toner on the sleeve so that the toner is transferred from the sleeve to the surface of the photoreceptor; a transferor for transferring the toner image from the surface of the photoreceptor to the recording sheet; a cleaning unit for cleaning a residual toner on the surface after the toner image is transferred by the transferor; and an exposing unit for selectively exposing an area of the residual toner on the surface so that an electrical potential difference is created between the residual area of toner and the photoreceptor.

摘要： An image forming apparatus such as a printer or copier includes a photoreceptor for holding a latent image; a charger for charging the photoreceptor; an exposure unit such as an LED array for exposing the photoreceptor with light so as to form a latent image on the photoreceptor; and a developer placed in the vicinity of the photoreceptor, for developing the latent image with a developing agent so as to form a developing agent image on the photoreceptor. The developer includes a developing sleeve for holding the developing agent on its surface and a transferor for transferring the developing agent image on the photoreceptor to a recording medium. A cleaner is provided for cleaning a residual developing agent on the photoreceptor after the developing agent image is transferred to the recording medium and a purge control unit is provided for purging foreign matter from the developing agent on the developing sleeve. The purge control unit includes an attraction member for attracting foreign matter from the developing sleeve.

The value of the predetermined power is determined in accordance with heat capacity of the recording material or a heat accumulating degree of the fixing apparatus on demand.
