    • An electrical connector includes an insulating housing provided with a plurality of first contacts. Each of the first contacts has a tine that extends toward an outside of the insulating housing that is bent at a right angle with respect thereto. A tine plate is mounted on a side of the insulating housing. A circuit board is arranged adjacent to the undersurface of the tine plate and spaced there from. The tines extend through first through-holes in the tine plate and first through-holes in the circuit board. The tine plate has at least one first recess provided on the undersurface of the tine plate that encompasses at least one of the first though-holes on the tine plate. Molten solder is provided in the first through-holes in the circuit board and forms a fillet on the tines that extends toward the undersurface of the tine plate.

    • A board-mount electrical connector capable of maintaining favorable solderability of a connecting section of a terminal for a long term and preventing occurrence of a whisker in a bent section of the terminal is provided. The electrical connector includes a plurality of terminals each having at one end a contact section which contacts a mating contact and having, at the other end, a connecting section which connects to a circuit board. A bent section is located in a middle portion between the contact section and the connecting section. An insulating housing holds the plurality of terminals. On each terminal, a bright tin-plated layer and a semi-bright tin plated layer are formed on respective surfaces of the contact section and the connecting section leaving the surface of the middle portion unplated by tin such that the semi-bright tin-plated layer is thicker than the bright tin-plated layer.

    • An electrical connector comprises an insulating housing and first contacts secured to the housing.     • A surface mount technology connector comprises a housing provided with a plurality of contacts. At least one metal fitting is fixed to a sidewall of the housing. The metal fitting has a base and a soldering section for soldering to a circuit board. The base has a smaller width than the soldering section. The soldering section extends from a substantial center of the base with respect to the width thereof. The soldering section and a portion of the base extend approximately perpendicular to and away from a bottom of the sidewall of the housing. The sidewall of the housing has a solder viewing section at each side of the base. The solder viewing section retracts inward as the solder viewing section approaches the soldering section to expose the soldering section at the bottom of the sidewall of the housing.
