    • An image forming device includes an intermediate transfer member to which a toner image formed on an image bearing member is primarily transferred and which is able to simultaneously support a plurality of toner images, a secondary transfer member for secondarily transferring a toner image held on the intermediate transfer member to a sheet, a cleaning unit for removing the toner images from the intermediate transfer member after the secondary transfer, and a feeding member for feeding a sheet into the secondary transfer member. The secondary transfer member features a sheet-delay transfer mode in which a subsequent toner image on the intermediate transfer member is transferred if a previous toner image on the intermediate transfer member is out of sync with the timing at which the toner image is transferred to the fed sheet.

    • The ADF 11 is a device for feeding an original document toward an original document scanning position R, comprising an original document loading unit 31, paper feeding roller 51, pressure sensor 33 and lift plate drive unit 35. The original document loading unit 31 comprises a lift plate 41 allowing an original document to be loaded and vertically movable in an original document loading direction. The paper feeding roller 51 is disposed above the lift plate 41 disposed at the lowermost position with an interval therebetween, and is capable of moving upwardly in coordination with a force received from below from the lift plate 41. The pressure sensor 41 is capable of detecting upward pressure on the paper feeding roller 51. The lift plate drive unit 35 causes the lift plate 41 to be lowered upon detection of upward pressure on the paper feeding roller 51.

    • The invention provides a stackless continuous dual-sided copying method in photocopying machines. The method includes: a first step of finding as a circulatable sheet count the number of copy sheets that can stay in a circulating conveyance path when performing stackless continuous dual-sided copying; a second step of successively feeding sheets of copy paper wherein the number of the fed sheets is based on the circulatable sheet count if a copy sheet count remaining amount is greater than the circulatable sheet count, and successively convey-introducing the sheets of copy paper into the circulating conveyance path from a copy-sheet conveyance entry point for the circulating conveyance path; and a third step of resuming sheet-feeding operations at a predetermined timing after the last sheet of the copy sheets has finished passing the conveyance entry point in the circulating conveyance path, for starting a next continuous dual-sided copying cycle after copying to first sides of the copy sheets successively convey-introduced into the circulating conveyance path in the second step is completed. Accordingly, when carrying out stackless continuous dual-sided copying in accordance with the present invention, there is no need for copy sheet detection sensors to determine whether the number of copy sheets conveyed to the circulating conveyance path has reached the conveyable sheet count.

    • An inserter apparatus has a printer A and an inserter apparatus B. The printer A has a print section 13, and an insert information output section 9 for outputting insert information including an insert page showing a position of an insert paper and an interval of printing papers. The inserter apparatus B has a discharged paper carrying section 17 of printing papers from the print section 13; a counter section 19 for counting the number of sheets of the printing papers; a paper feeding section 21 for setting the insert paper therein; and a paper feeding controller 23. Based on insert information from the insert information output section 9, the paper feeding controller 23 controls the insert paper to be fed at a timing before the next paper interval is passed after a count value of the counter section 19 reaches one page before the insert page. Therefore, it is possible to realize an excellent short insert processing for the printing papers.

    • A toner recovery roller having at least its outer peripheral part made of an insulator and rotated and driven in a predetermined direction is disposed in the vicinity of a position where an image carrier and a developing roller interact with each other, and a triboelectric charging member for triboelectrically charging an outer peripheral surface of the toner recovery roller to a polarity opposite to that of toner particles is so provided as to be brought into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the toner recovery roller. The rotation of the toner recovery roller in a predetermined direction causes friction between the friction charging member and the insulating outer peripheral surface of the toner recovery roller, so that the insulating outer peripheral surface of the toner recovery roller is triboelectrically charged to a polarity opposite to that of toner particles. Therefore, toner particles scattered from the developing roller are attracted to the toner recovery roller to adhere thereto.A charging potential of the toner recovery roller does not immediately reach zero but remains to some extent even in cases, for example, immediately after a copying machine is stopped, when the power supply of the copying machine is turned off immediately after copying is terminated, and when a front door of the copying machine is opened by paper jamming or the like. Also in this case, therefore, floating toner particles are attracted to the toner recovery roller to adhere thereto.

    • When an original document is placed on the lift tray, a timer is reset and starts counting a predetermined time (S12). Whether an alignment device is moved to adjust the original documents loaded on the lift tray in, for example, the widthwise direction transverse to the transportation direction is then determined (S13). If a change in the detected width of the original documents is detected (S13 returns Yes), control returns to S12 and the timer is reset and started again (S12). If there is no change in the detected width of the original documents in S13, control waits for the timer set in S12 to time out (S14). If the timer reaches the predetermined time set in S12 (S15 returns Yes), the lift tray is driven up by the lift motor (S16) and rises until the top limit sensor turns on (S17).
