摘要： The present disclosure describes a disposal bag, kit and method for performing pleural drainage that may be used by a patient at home or away from home. The kit for drainage of a body cavity has instruments and supplies needed to drain the body cavity, a disposal bag made from two superposed, water impervious sheets sealed about a substantial portion of their perimeter using a water impervious bond. The bag is usable for disposal of the instruments and supplies after drainage of the body cavity. The superposed sheets also provide a work sheet to prepare and use the instruments and supplies.

摘要： An elastomeric glove that contains zones of differing water vapor transmission rates is provided. The glove contains at least one liquid and vapor impermeable zone, i.e., “moisture-impermeable” zone. Such moisture-impermeable zones generally have a WVTR of less than about 1500 g/m2/24 hours. Further, the glove also contains at least one liquid-impermeable, but vapor-permeable zone, i.e., “breathable” zone. Such breathable zones generally have a WVTR of at least about 250 g/m2/24 hours. As a result, the glove may sufficiently inhibit liquids and moisture from contacting the hand during use, and allow water vapor that would otherwise accumulate on the skin of a user to escape from the glove, thereby enhancing the comfort of the user's hands during long periods of use.

摘要： An elastic bandage is disclosed having a nonelastic absorbent nonwoven web, a non-elastic breathable nonwoven web, and a meltspun elastomeric material disposed between the two webs. The meltspun elastomeric material can comprise a plurality of meltspun elastomeric filaments aligned in substantially parallel distribution in a machine direction, the filaments attached to a side of the nonelastic breathable nonwoven web and to a side of the nonelastic absorbent nonwoven web. The nonelastic absorbent nonwoven web can comprise a laminate of nonwoven layers. The non-elastic breathable nonwoven web can comprise a breathable film bonded to a nonwoven layer or laminate individual nonwoven layers. A self adherent coating may be disposed upon an outer surface of the elastic bandage.

The water soluble fibers of the nonwoven substrate can include polyvinyl alcohol fibers that only dissolve at temperatures greater than 37° C. and/or polyvinyl alcohol fibers that can dissolve at temperatures less than about 37° C. The adherent article also includes a pressure-sensitive adhesive applied to the nonwoven substrate that facilitates adherence of the substrate to human skin. The pressure-sensitive adhesive can be water soluble or generally insoluble, but dispersible in water.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a method of manufacturing a single-use, disposable absorbent laminate containing one or more layers of hydrophilic meltspun material bonded to a breathable film. The meltspun fabric layer may include at least one spunbonded fabric, meltblown fabric or other nonwoven fabric that is made hydrophilic prior to bonding to the film. The filaments or microfibers of the spunbonded or meltblown fabrics may contain a hydrophilic additive in or on the filaments or microfibers. The film of the surgical drape remains breathable while enabling the laminate to resist penetration by liquids and viruses.
