摘要： An apparatus is for use by an operator in forming boreholes in a mine passage including a rib and a roof. The apparatus includes a boom having a proximal end mounted to a base, such as a vehicle. A drill supported by the boom near a distal end thereof is adapted for drilling into the rib of the mine passage. An operator's station carried by the boom adjacent the drill includes a platform for supporting the operator arranged at least partially between a generally vertical plane aligned with the second lateral side and the rib. Accordingly, the operator can access the rib when positioned on the operator's station without interference from the boom.

摘要： An apparatus abates noise from the operation of a drill head including a drilling element for engaging a face of a mine passage during a drilling cycle in which the drill head moves from a first position farther from the face to a second position closer to the face. The apparatus includes a collapsible barrier capable of moving between an extended condition to cover a portion of the drilling element during the formation of the borehole and a retracted condition in which the portion of the drilling element covered in the extended condition is exposed. A holder is adapted for releasably coupling with the barrier in the extended condition. Related methods are also disclosed.

摘要： An apparatus and method is provided for substantially continuously drilling and disposing of drill cuttings and dust to minimize airborne contamination while providing protection against overload using enhanced computer control. A drill stem with a bit is used to form the drill hole. A flushing mechanism utilizes vacuum or pressurized water to create a bailing fluid flow for flushing the cuttings and dust from the drill hole for disposal. A transducer monitors at least one first parameter of the bailing fluid flow, and a sensor may also monitor at least one second parameter of a flow of a driving fluid under pressure for feeding the drill stem and bit into the earth. A controller is utilized to regulate the rate of feed and/or driving of the stem and bit dependent on the levels of the parameters being monitored.

摘要： A method of roof/side wall roof bolting in-situ includes the steps of drilling a bore hole, loading a rupturable resin cartridge into a lightweight, tubular wand through the delivery end, manually placing the wand with the delivery end adjacent the mouth of the bore hole, pushing the cartridge through the wand for transfer into the bore hole, and inserting the roof bolt to rupture the cartridge and for setting into place in the rock. The related apparatus includes a tubular wand, a flexible pusher that is extensible through the wand and into the bore hole for transfer of the cartridge and a driver in the form of a flexible snake assembly from a reel to push the cartridge. The snake assembly includes a cylindrical head on the end and a plastic retainer fits over the trailing end of the cartridge to prevent retro movement and to provide protection from premature rupture. A handle at the proximate end of the wand provides for easy manipulation of the wand.
