    • A method of making a power transmission belt/belt sleeve having a body with a continuous length extending around an axis, an inside, an outside spaced radially from the inside, and at least one of a) a plurality of ribs extending lengthwise and b) a plurality of cog teeth spaced at lengthwise intervals, on one of the inside and outside of the belt/belt sleeve. The method includes the steps of: forming a first belt/belt sleeve component with a compression rubber layer; applying a radial force on the first belt/belt sleeve component so as to urge the first belt/belt sleeve component against a mold surface and thereby forming the at least one of the plurality of ribs and plurality of cog teeth in the first belt/belt sleeve component; forming a second belt/belt sleeve component having at least a part of a cushion rubber layer and a load carrying member; and after forming the at least one of the plurality of ribs and plurality of cog teeth on the first belt/belt sleeve component, joining the first and second belt/belt sleeve components to each other.

    • An apparatus for treating a cord for use in a power transmission belt. The apparatus has a guide system for guiding a cord in a predetermined path and a processing liquid application system including a receptacle for a discrete amount of a processing liquid. A container defines a reservoir for a supply of processing liquid. There is a discharge opening on the first container for communicating processing liquid from a supply of processing liquid in the first container reservoir to the receptacle. With a first predetermined amount of processing liquid in the receptacle, the predetermined path extends through the processing liquid in the receptacle. With the discharge opening blocked, the first container reservoir is air tight. A first structure is provided for mounting the first container in an operative position on the apparatus wherein processing liquid in the first container reservoir flows by gravity to the discharge opening. With the first container in the operative position and a second amount of processing liquid in the receptacle, the processing liquid in the receptacle blocks the discharge opening on the first container to thereby stop gravitational flow of processing liquid from the first container reservoir to the receptacle. With the first container in the operative position and a third predetermined amount of processing liquid that is less than the second predetermined amount of processing liquid in the receptacle, the discharge opening is unblocked so that processing liquid from the first container reservoir flows through the discharge opening until the processing liquid accumulates in the receptacle to the point that the processing liquid blocks the discharge opening to thereby stop flow of processing liquid through the discharge opening to the receptacle.

    • An oven for continuously heating a cord, which oven has a housing defining an internal space for treatment of a cord. The housing has an inlet and an outlet communicating with the internal housing space and between which a cord being heated passes in a predetermined path. A heating chamber is defined within the internal housing space through which a cord being heated travels between the housing inlet and outlet. A first partition within the internal housing space is located beneath at least a part of the predetermined path and defines an upper wall of a hot air supply chamber within the internal housing space. The first partition has an elongate slit therethrough that resides beneath, and extends parallel to, the part of the predetermined path through which slit air in the hot air supply chamber is communicated to the heating chamber. An inlet opening in the housing communicates heated air to the hot air supply chamber. The housing has a second partition with first and second openings spaced in a lengthwise direction relative to the slit for causing heated air in the heating chamber to branch into each of the first and second openings. An air moving element is provided. There is further provided a conduit system for directing air from the first and second openings to the air moving element and for directing air accelerated by the air moving element to the hot air supply chamber. There is additionally a heater for air directed into the heating chamber.
