摘要： An antenna that includes a radial waveguide defining a waveguide region between opposed first and second surfaces. A radio frequency (RF) probe is disposed in the waveguide region for generating RF signals, and a plurality of radiating slot antenna elements are disposed on the first surface for emitting the RF signals from the waveguide region. A plurality of spaced apart conductive elements are disposed within the waveguide region. The antenna includes tunable elements that each include a quarter wavelength RF choke coupled through a variable capacitance and an inductive line to a respective one of the conductive elements. A plurality of DC control lines are provided, with each DC control line being connected to at least one of the tunable elements to adjust the variable capacitance thereof. A control circuit is coupled to the DC control lines and configured to selectively apply DC current values to adjust the variable capacitances of the tunable elements to control a propagation direction of the RF signals from the RF probe.

摘要： An antenna, permitting the configuration of at least one radioelectric wave beam of at least one fixed wavelength, of the type including at least one transmitting element, preferably of the passive type, arranged in a set of essentially parallel, wave-reflecting wires or bars, made from a photonic band gap (BIP) material and forming a given structure. The given structure includes faults for shaping the at least one beam in a direction as a function of the position and/or the configuration of the faults. The wires or bars and the faults are arranged on a set of N curves which are closed and concentric on a plane, N being greater than or equal to 1 and the transmitting element is arranged within the innermost curve. The curves are preferably circular and the wires/bars can be controlled to pass from a wave-conducting/reflecting state to a transparent state.

The conductive arm is dielectrically loaded with at least one high dielectric material that is configured to provide spatial coverage of the conductive arm. An antenna array structure is also described that includes at least a first dielectrically loaded antenna element for transmitting and a second dielectrically loaded antenna element for receiving. The transmitting antenna element is aligned orthogonal to the receiving antenna element to further reduce interference.

摘要： An antenna having a line feed delivering a radiofrequency (RF) signal to or from a radial waveguide is provided. The radial waveguide may include radiating elements on its periphery for converting the RF signal into a wireless signal. Filter elements are disposed within the waveguide, interposed radially between the line feed and the waveguide periphery. The filter elements are controllable for tunably filtering of the RF signal in their vicinity. Portions of the RF signal propagating through the waveguide in different direction may be bandpass filtered differently or blocked, thereby allowing for both beamsteering and bandpass filtering to support multiple frequency bands concurrently. Also provided is a design for the filter elements as tunable filter components of a frequency selective surface.

A switchable lens antenna has excitation ports radiating radio-frequency (RF) wave into a parallel-plate waveguide structure, and a frequency selective structure (FSS). The antenna presented herein is configured to operate in two modes depending on a steering angle of the RF wave propagating in the parallel-plate waveguide structure. When the steering angle is about or less than a threshold steering angle, FSS is OFF due to its stubs being electrically disconnected from the parallel-plate waveguide structure. When the steering angle is higher than the threshold, FSS is ON with stubs being electrically connected to the parallel-plate waveguide structure. When ON, FSS provides phase variance to the RF wave propagating in the parallel-plate waveguide structure and increases steering angle of the RF wave.
