    • A trochoidal gear pump or engine uses a coaxial hub with the outer and/or inner rotor and an associated rolling element bearing assembly that preferably uses pre-loaded bearings to precisely set the rotational axis and/or the axial position of the rotor with which it is associated. This allows the fixed-gap clearance between the rotor surfaces and the housing surfaces or the other rotor surfaces to be set at a distance that minimizes operating fluid shear forces and/or by-pass leakage and eliminates gear tooth wear thus preserving effective chamber to chamber sealing. The device is useful in handling gaseous and two-phase fluids in expansion/contracting fluid engines/compressors and can incorporate an output shaft that accommodates an integrated condensate pump for use with Rankine cycles. A vent from the housing cavity to a lower pressure input or output port regulates built-up fluid pressure in the housing thereby optimizing the efficiency of the device by controlling bypass leakage.

    • A rotary chambered fluid energy-transfer device includes a housing with a central portion having a bore formed therein and an end plate forming an arcuate inlet passage, with a radial height and a circumferential extent. The device also includes an outer rotor rotatable in the central portion bore with a female gear profile formed in a radial portion defining a plurality of roots and an inner rotor with a male gear profile defining a plurality of lobes in operative engagement with the outer rotor. A minimum radial distance between an outer rotor root and a corresponding inner rotor lobe define a duct end face proximate the end plate, wherein the duct end face has a radial height substantially equivalent to the inlet passage radial height at a leading edge of the inlet passage.

    • An electric generating alternator for use with linear reciprocating motive sources. The alternator consists of a plunger with permanent magnets extending radially from a small diameter structurally stable core forming essentially a star configuration and a laminated stator with poles arranged adjacent to the permanent magnets. Coils made of electrical conducting material are wound around portions of the stator to surround the magnetic flux in the laminated stator. The flux in the stator is caused to change by axial reciprocation of the plunger magnets which have dipoles substantially tangential to a circumference of the plunger axis.

    • A suspension system for linear reciprocating device which allows a relatively large axial stroke while also providing long life and high torsional and radial stiffness. The system consists of a grounded ring to which pairs of substantially coplanar cross straps are connected about an axis of symmetry around the ring. The midpoints of the straps are attached to the reciprocating device. In operation the flexing of the straps in combination with the distortion of the grounded ring allows for a greater axial stroke within a smaller perimeter than using flexing straps alone. This allows the suspension device to be utilized in a much smaller area providing further advantages in application.
