    • The configuration and utilization of multiple memories is disclosed to efficiently gather histogram data for either multiple devices or single devices. Each memory can be configured depending on the number of ADCs to be tested. Rather than utilizing a separate histogram engine for each ADC, or duplicate memories to test each ADC, the memory of each histogram engine can be used either for a single ADC having a large or otherwise substantial sample width, or for multiple ADCs, each having a smaller sample width. To accomplish this, the memory is partitioned into multiple segments using address decoding such that a single ADC can use all of the segments for histogram data collection, while multiple ADCs can each use one of the segments for histogram data collection.

    • An abdominal exercise adapter comprising two wedges and a telescopic pole extending between the two wedges. Each wedge has a vertical edge, a horizontal edge, and a third edge extending between the former two. The third edge is concave shaped. A channel runs through the bottom of the horizontal edge. Vertical members of a lower frame of an abdominal exercise device fit in the channels of each wedge, thereby allowing the adapter to rest firmly on the exercise device. Vertical members of an upper frame of the exercise device cradle in the third edge of the adapter, thus preventing the frame from returning to a resting position. When the adapter is in use with an exercise device, a user endures a more challenging exercise session since the wedges of the adapter block the upper frame from descending past a certain point. Thus, the user is forced to keep her head off the head rest, and her stomach and abdominal muscles remain tense.

    • A ship navigation and handling training simulator comprises a console for use by an instructor and a console for use by a student navigator. Each console has a visual display unit with a screen to provide a mimic display of the ship and environmental information, and the instructor console is associated with two groups of controls for setting in, respectively, the environmental and display information applicable to the navigational or ship handling exercise to be performed and information representing ship/tug control decisions by the student. The consoles are interconnected by a voice link so that the instructor can initially set the environmental and display controls and subsequently adjust the group of controls for ship/tug control in accordance with vocal instructions from the student transmitted via the voice link. Computer means are programmed to control the displays on the screens on a time scale in accordance with the information set-in on both groups of controls and the changes thereto during the course of the exercise.
