    • A self-service transaction and automatic emergency hedge system, including an emergency signal generation module (10) and a self-service terminal control module (20).     • The present invention relates to a mobile set integrating a memory efficient data storage system for the real time recording of voice conversations, data transmission and the like. The data recorder has the capacity to selectively choose the most relevant time frames of a conversation for recording, while discarding time frames that only occupy additional space in memory without holding any conversational data. The invention executes a series of logic steps on each signal including a voice activity detector step, frame comparison step, and sequential recording step. A mobile set having a modified architecture for performing the methods of the present invention is also disclosed.

    • A portable license for licensed content is obtained by a user along with a regular license in a local network, such as a home network or other private network. The portable license may be stored in a license server on a portable device, such as a smart phone or a tablet, which functions as a portable license server. The user may take the portable device to another location where it joins another local network. A device in the second network, which does not have a license to play the licensed content, may use the portable license on the portable device to execute the content, enabling the user to enjoy it in multiple environments. The device (e.g., a TV) in the second network may continue to play the content as long as the portable license or another valid license is present in the network.

    • System and method for filtering a data packet using a combined filter are disclosed. In one aspect, the method includes receiving a data packet and N filters. The method includes receiving a data packet and N (wherein N is an integer and N>1) filters, each filter comprising a bit mask and corresponding bit values. The method further includes, for each of the N filters, identifying a key element from a portion of the filter corresponding to a combined filter, the key element being a segment of the filter portion having the richest bit pattern. The method further includes generating the combined filter by combining the key element of the N filters. The method further includes filtering the data packet with the combined filter to determine whether there is a match between the data packet and each key element.

    • One method of redirecting an in-process backup operation to a new storage device involves receiving a request to perform a backup from a backup application. In response to reception of the request, the method causes backup information generated by the backup application to be stored on a first storage device. The first storage device is monitored in order to detect how much free space is available. If the amount of space available on the first storage device drops below a threshold amount prior to completion of the backup, the backup is redirected by causing any subsequent backup information generated by the backup application to be stored on a second storage device. Metadata associated with the backup identifies that information associated with the backup is stored on both the first storage device and the second storage device.
