    • A lockable rotatable heated curling brush which is used for styling and curling hair includes a rod housing which serves as a handle, an inner tube fixedly connected to said handle and protruding therefrom, a heater inside said inner tube electrically connected to a swivel cord, and an outer tube rotatably supported by said inner tube, said outer tube having a round brush on the outer surface thereof. The outer tube is held in the handle by a circular guide in front which mates with a notched flange at the rear of the outer tube. There is a spring latch device which locks or frees the outer tube so it can rotate. The inner tube within the outer tube is aluminum and is in heat conducting relationship with the heater and the outer tube. The heater is positioned in the inner tube such that the axial center of the heater is forward of the longitudinal center of the inner tube at a point which offsets the unequal heat loss rate to the atmosphere of the forward and rearward ends of the outer tube whereby maximum uniform heating of the outer tube and brush occurs. The preferred heater is a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistor.

    • A switching device for a multi-filament electric lamp. The filaments of the electric lamp are electrically connected to arcuate contact surfaces arranged in a circle. The conductive bar is arranged to rotate about the axis of the circular arrangement of contact surfaces. The ends of the conductive bar contact the contact surfaces, and an electric power supply is electrically connected to the center portion of the conductive bar. Current flows into the center portion of the bar and out both ends and through the filaments of the electric lamp in the patterns determined by actuation of a pull-chain to operate the lamp in LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH states. With the conductive bar in a further, pull-chain determined position, the lamp is OFF.

    • Automatic door closers have a latch mechanism for holding the door open. In one mode of operation, the latching of the door is effected automatically when the door is opened. Tapping the door closer cylinder upwardly releases the latch mechanism and allows the door to close. Manual manipulation of the latch mechanism is required to latch the door open in a second mode of operation. However, in this mode of operation, the latch mechanism can be released simply by opening the door slightly beyond its latched position. The door closer includes a cylinder with a rectilinearly displaceable piston rod housed therein and extending through one cylinder head; and the latch mechanism comprises that cylinder head and a notch in the piston rod into which cylinder head is fitted to keep the piston rod from telescoping into the cylinder. The opposite end of the cylinder and the exposed end of the piston rod are attached to the door and the door frame. Consequently, the door cannot close as long as the piston rod is kept from telescoping into the cylinder by the latch mechanism.
