    • A protective phone cover dispenser dispenses sleeves that isolate a phone from contaminants in the external environment. The dispenser has a container, a storage compartment, a set of protective covers, an access hole, and an external device coupler. the storage compartment is located within the container and acts as a holding chamber for the set of protective covers. Each of the protective covers is a sleeve that is used to envelop the phone. Thus, isolating the phone from contaminants in the external environment. The access hole traverses through the container into the interior compartment so that a user is able to retrieve the protective covers stored within the interior compartment. The external device coupler is mounted onto the exterior surface of the container and is positioned offset from the access hole. Thus, the dispenser can be mounted onto an external structure without hindering the user from retrieving protective covers.

    • Services for a personal electronic device are provided through which a form of background processing or multitasking is supported. The disclosed services permit user applications to take advantage of background processing without significant negative consequences to a user's experience of the foreground process or the personal electronic device's power resources. To effect the disclosed multitasking, one or more of a number of operational restrictions may be enforced. By way of example, inactive network applications (e.g., VOIP applications) may be placed in a suspended state until a message is received targeting the application (e.g., an incoming phone call or a heartbeat needed message). The user application may be placed into the background state to respond to the message and then returned to the non-active state (e.g., if the message was a heartbeat needed) message or to the foreground state if appropriate (e.g., the user elects to answer the incoming call).

    • A hinged U-shaped battery-powered miniature wireless headset, is worn as an earring or a pair of earrings. The earset communicates with a phone or other host over a bidirectional wireless communication link allowing hands-free operation. The earset has a front and rear housings electrically and mechanically connected using a hinge, the housings containing an electronics module, a speaker assembly, a microphone assembly, an antenna, a battery, user interface devices such as a switch and LEDs, and an attachment employing either a clamp or a pierced earring post with clutch. The device is attached to the lobe of the wearer's ear. The user positions the speaker, or speaker tube, inside at the entrance to the ear canal. One microphone is mounted to point toward the user's mouth and another microphone may be positioned to receive ambient sound for signal processing to improve quality of the outgoing and/or incoming audio stream.

    • One embodiment accesses a search query and one or more sets of clicked network resources corresponding to the search query; determines a classifier model that represents the sets of clicked network resources that each satisfy the information need of one of the users and one or more subsets of the sets of clicked network resources that each do not satisfy the information need of one of the users; computes a probability value for each clicked network resource from each of the sets of clicked network resources using the classier model, wherein the probability value represents a likelihood that, after clicking on the corresponding network resource, the particular one of the users conducting the corresponding particular one of the search sessions ends the search session; and forms a set of features comprising the probability values computed for network resources from the search sessions.

    • A dual pivoting hood support mechanism includes a first support mounted on the vehicle near a rear end of the hood, a second support mounted on the vehicle forward of the first support, a first arm coupled to the rear end of the hood, and a second arm pivotally coupled to a central portion of the hood. The first arm is releasably and pivotally coupled to the first support, and the second arm is releasably and pivotally coupled to the second support. The hood can be pivoted rearwardly about the first support to a fully raised position by uncoupling the second arm from the second support. The hood can also be placed in a service position wherein the rear end of the hood is higher than the front end of the hood and when the first arm is uncoupled from the first support.

    • Diagnostic events can be collected on electronic devices at geographically distributed service centers and transmitted to a remote (e.g., network-based) diagnostic service. The diagnostic service can aggregate and analyze the diagnostic events to determine, for example, one or more possible causes of the diagnostic events, and can provide information or guidance to users and/or service personnel for characterizing, resolving or explaining the diagnostic events. In one aspect, log files of diagnostic events captured on devices are sent to the diagnostic service. For each log file, the diagnostic service can compute frequencies of recorded diagnostic events. The computed frequencies can be compared against accepted and/or expected values generated from reference data. The diagnostic service can respond to users and/or service personnel with information or guidance for resolving, characterizing or explaining the diagnostic event based on a result of the comparisons.
