    • An apparatus for dispensing fluid into a container in which a first passage is formed in a housing for permitting direct flow of fluid from an inlet to an outlet associated with the housing and a second passage receives a portion of the fluid and includes an eductor for creating a vacuum in the housing. A valve member is disposed in the housing and is normally biased into a closed position to close the passage. A manually operable lever is adapted to open the valve member and is controlled by a linkage mechanism responsive to the vacuum. A diaphragm seal is associated with the valve member for preventing leakage of fluid through the valve mechanism.

    • A liquid dispensing and vapor recovery system in which a control unit is connected to a storage tank for the liquid and directs the liquid to a pair of conduits which pass the liquid to a receptacle and back to the storage tank, respectively. A reduced pressure zone is established in the conduit connected to the storage tank and is in communication with the receptacle for drawing vapors from the receptacle for passage back to the storage tank. The control unit prevents the flow of liquid back to the storage tank until gasoline is delivered to the receptacle and modulates the vapor flow back to the storage tank in response to the flow through the conduit connected to the receptacle.

    • A valve element for reciprocation within a port has a body member which cooperates with a valve seat defined on a wall around the port. A plurality of resilient legs extend from the body member through the port and terminate in feet which extend radially beyond the periphery of the port. A central bore in the body member, parallel to the legs receives a locking stem which reciprocates between a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position, a locking disc on the stem engages projections extending radially inward from the legs to prevent the legs from moving inward, thereby locking the valve element within the port. In the unlocked position, the locking disc is out of alignment with the projections, and bevelled surfaces on the feet cooperate with the wall to cam the legs inwardly, so that the valve element can be removed from the port when it is subjected to sufficient axial force. An annular ridge on the stem cooperates with a resilient flange spaced from the body member to releasably retain the stem in its locked and unlocked positions. A pair of prongs extend from a portion of the stem outside the bore beyond the periphery of the bore and engage the valve body to prevent the separation of the stem from the valve body. A sealing ring is seated in a groove defined on a portion of the stem within the bore to prevent the flow of fluid between the stem and the body member. The body member can be used without the stem as a flow responsive flow restricting element which permits full flow in one direction and restricted flow in the opposite direction.

    • A liquid dispensing and vapor recovery system in which an underground storage tank is connected to a first conduit for delivering a liquid, such as gasoline, to a vehicle gasoline tank or the like under the force of a pump located in the storage tank. A second conduit is connected to the first conduit and to the storage tank for diverting a portion of the gasoline in the first conduit back to the storage tank and an injector is located in the second conduit for forming a reduced pressure zone in response to gasoline flow through the second conduit. A valve unit prevents the flow of gasoline through the second conduit until gasoline is delivered to the vehicle gasoline tank. A third conduit is connected to the vehicle tank and to the second conduit at the reduced pressure zone for drawing the vapors from the vehicle tank into the second conduit for passage into the storage tank.

    • A liquid dispensing and vapor recovery system designed to be utilized in gasoline stations, or the like, in which the gasoline is pumped from a storage tank, through a first conduit system, and to each of several dispensing units for dispensing the gasoline to the vehicle tanks. A portion of the gasoline at each dispensing unit is diverted from the first conduit system into a second conduit system before it passes to the dispensing nozzle, and means are responsive to the gasoline flow through the second conduit system for drawing vapors from the receptacle into the second conduit system. A sump tank is connected to the second conduit system for receiving the mixture of diverted gasoline and vapor, and means are provided which are responsive to the operation of the pump for drawing the diverted gasoline from the sump tank to an additional conduit for passage back into the storage tank.

    • An insulating, resilient plug body having a forward portion of reduced diameter is sealingly received in a stepped hole of similar dimensions formed in a submersible housing. A plurality of spaced electrical conductors extend through the sealed interior of the plug. A pregrounding strip is carried on the surface of the forward portion of the plug and extends axially back through the larger rearward portion of the plug body and ends in an integral ground wire terminal behind the plug body. As the plug body is inserted into the hole, the grounding strip is wedged into contact with the wall of the hole, thus making electrical contact with the housing via the wall itself or an electrical terminal on the wall before the power connections are made. The electrical connector is preferably designed for a submersible pump motor, and the inner portion of the hole for the connector is formed through a sealed stator.
