    • A bracket is formed from a channel-shaped lower section adapted for attachment to the post, and a channel-shaped upper section pivotably joined to the lower section at its upper end. The bracket is used in fence assembly to connect the end of a channel-shaped rail and a post. The upper section may be pivoted with respect to the lower section, as required to align the upper section with the terrain upon which the rail and post are to be installed. The upper section and lower sections of the bracket cooperate to define a pair of spaced pockets adapted to receive the spaced side walls of a rail. Engagement of the side walls of the upper section of the bracket with internally projecting longitudinal ridges in the rail channel interfere with lifting of the rail from the bracket. Externally projecting tabs on the side walls of the upper section interfere with longitudinal withdrawal of the rail from the bracket.

    • A gate framing system for a PVC gate, the gate comprising first and second spaced vertical PVC frame members connected at their upper and lower ends to a pair of spaced horizontal PVC frame members, the gate framing system comprising a pair of spaced metallic framing brackets mounted at each corner of the PVC gate, the pairs of framing brackets being connected to each other in such manner as to hold the PVC gate in compression between the brackets at each corner thereof, wherein the framing brackets are bent around the outer side edges of the PVC vertical frame members in an overlapping relation, wherein a first post-tensioning metallic rod extends horizontally across the top of the PVC gate through the overlapping ends of the pairs of brackets at the upper corners of the PVC gate, and wherein a second post-tensioning metallic rod extends horizontally across the bottom of the PVC gate through the overlapping ends of the pairs of framing brackets at the bottom corners of the PVC gate, whereby the post-tensioning rods exert horizontal compressive forces between the upper two corners and the lower two corners to add structural rigidity to the PVC gate.

    • A method for converting a gate panel into a rolling cantilever-type gate utilizing a conversion kit consisting essentially of a one-piece top-rail extrusion, commercially available roller assemblies, and hardware for attaching the top-rail extrusion to the existing gate panel.The top-rail extrusion is constructed in one piece with a flat vertical ribbed side face having vertical shoulders. The shoulders either bolt directly to the gate panel in a horizontal orientation or attach to the gate panel horizontally with contoured brackets selected to fit the gate's structural members. One side of the top-rail extrusion is provided with a longitudinal compartment having a downward facing opening along its length. The compartment serves as a trackway for upper roller assemblies which are secured to support posts. The upper roller assemblies access the compartment by way of the downward facing opening and support the gate.Bottom guide roller assemblies also attach to the support posts and are positioned with at least one wheel of each guide roller assembly on each side of the gate's bottom gate rail.

    • A barrier, such as fence panel, is formed from a plurality of channel-shaped rails and plurality of upright members. Each upright member traverses the rail channels of the rails forming the barrier and is mechanically connected to the rail, such that the upright member is selectively tiltable with respect to the rail within an angular adjustment range. The mechanical connection between rail and upright member may be formed by a weld, such as a resistance weld, by a permanent adhesive, or with a fastener such as bolt or screw. A tab that extends from the rail web may be used to connect a rail to an upright member. The tab may depend from a bracket installed within the rail channel, or may be cut out and bent into the channel from the web. The tab is rotatable about an axis situated at or adjacent the web.

    • A picket assembly adapted for installation on a post of a barrier, such as a corner post. The picket assembly comprises at least one post picket having an upper portion and a lower portion. The lower portion of each post picket is characterized by a rectilinear profile. The picket assembly further comprises a post closure, which is formed from a cap and a bracket. The cap is adapted to fit around the upper end of the post and is provided with recesses sized to clearingly receive the lower portion of a post picket therethrough. The recess are provided in a number equalling the number of post pickets. The bracket of the post closure extends from the lower surface of the cap can be received within the open upper end of the post. The bracket provides an attachment surface that bracingly engages the lower portion of each post picket when that post picket is received through a recess of the cap.
