An off-load foot (350) including a downwardly extending leg (354) having abase (396) for engaging a ground surface (85) is utilized to off-load containers. A container lockdown mechanism (500) includes a securement member (504) attached to the trailer (50), an attachment member (502), and an extension member (506) extended between the container and the securement member (504) to hold the container (52) on the trailer (50). A bottom wheel assembly (600), an intermediate lockdown mechanism (700), a front lockdown mechanism (750), and a container foot (800) to transport the containers (52, 94, 96) with the wheel assemblies (600) and container foot (800) attached to the containers (52, 94, 96). The invention utilizes a universal mounting bracket (602) which can be used to mount a selected one of the wheel assembly (600), the container foot (800), and lockdown extensions (662, 664) which form part of the lockdown mechanisms (700, 750). The wheel assembly (600) includes three wheels (604, 606, 608) rotatably mounted on the mounting bracket (602) by a wheel axle (610) from which the lockdown extensions (662, 664) extend. The front and intermediate lockdown mechanisms (700, 750) each include a securement portion (702, 752) and a trailer attachment portion (704, 754). The container foot (800) includes a pivotally mounted platform (804), and the container foot (800) is held in a container foot receiving slot (814, 816) during transport.

    • A detachable gooseneck trailer (20) having a gooseneck (24) and a detachable trailer deck (22) utilizes a trailer attachment assembly (30) to draw the trailer deck (22) toward the gooseneck (24) during attachment. The attachment assembly (30) includes a pivoting carrier (66) having a retainer leg (84) with a rearward facing load carrier engagement surface (90). A slide member (68) is attached to the trailer deck (22) and provides a forward facing slide member engagement surface (94). As actuators (70) pivot the carrier (66) rearward, the load carrier engagement surface (90) slides over the slide member engagement surface (94). A latching mechanism (34) utilizes an elongated latch plate (122) pivotally mounted on the retainer leg (84) to automatically latch the carrier (66) to the trailerdeck (22). A latch biasing spring (124) biases the latch plate (122) toward its latched position, so that it automatically engages a catch (126) mounted on the trailer deck. A lift mechanism (36) utilizes lift actuator arms (148) extending from the tops of the load carrier ends (74, 76) to push down carrier arms (144) and support the gooseneck (24) above the ground. A ride height lock assembly (37) includes a pair of pawls (178) and a pair of ratchets (180) to lock the trailer deck at a desired ride height.

    • A self-loading trailer has a flat deck that can be raised and lowered between a horizontal transport position and a downwardly and rearwardly inclined loading position. A pair of winches adjacent the front end of the deck are normally maintained in a stowed position slightly inboard from opposite sides from the deck but can be shifted outwardly into extended positions outboard of the lateral confines of the deck. In such extended positions, the winches may be used to draw a first container up onto the deck as the inclined deck is moved rearwardly under the container, and then a second container behind the first container, without interfering with the first container. When both containers are fully loaded, the winches are retracted back into their stored positions.

    • A truck in the nature of an automotive vehicle for carrying and moving heavy loads, bulky articles, freight, etc., has a wheeled front section which includes a cab and an engine compartment and a wheeled rear section which includes a cargo-receiving bed. The two sections are articulated to permit raising of the truck at the articulation or joint between the sections, causing the front section to slope downwardly and forwardly from the joint and the rear section to slope downwardly and rearwardly from the joint, resulting in the bed being positioned in a small angle of inclination relative to the plane of the surface which supports the truck such as to facilitate loading and unloading. The bed is reciprocable fore and aft of the rear section by use of hydraulic power means for placing its rear ramp against such surface, and a linkage system, also hydraulically powered, effects the tilting operation.
