    • A steering-brake control system for a vehicle in which solenoid operated control valves associated with the respective wheels of at least one axle are normally maintained in an open position, so long as the valve solenoid operators are deenergized. Braking pressure is produced when either one of a right and left brake pedal is operated. Switches associated with each pedal are effective to energize the solenoid of one wheel control valve to cut off brake pressure to that particular wheel, so that only the one wheel corresponding to the operated brake pedal is braked to cause the vehicle to turn in that direction for steering control in off-street operation. In the event both brake pedals are operated, the switches and valves operate to admit brake pressure to each wheel brake cylinder for normal braking during on-street operation.

    • This invention relates to a pump unloader that includes two cylindrical valve members of the same diameter slidably mounted in the same bore and each biased in the same direction by its own spring. These valve members are so connected by a lost-motion connection as to be simultaneously shiftable in one direction upon storage reservoir pressure acting on one valve member reaching a chosen cut-out pressure until the other valve member begins to open a communication whereupon this other valve member is subject to pump discharge pressure to cause it to be quickly shifted relative to the one valve member to a pump unloading position in which the pump discharge is returned to a sump. Thereafter, as reservoir pressure is reduced, both valve members are simultaneously shiftable in an opposite direction to cut off flow from the pump to the sump whereupon the pump is reloaded after which the spring acting on the other valve member shifts it relative to the one valve member to its original position with respect to this one valve member.

    • A fluid flow control apparatus having an adjustable throttling arrangement for controlling the flow of fluid between working cylinders associated with sections of an articulated vehicle, has a housing which is essentially symmetric in shape. Two working connections are formed at symmetrically opposite ends of the housing and connect to the working cylinders. Two passageways, formed in the housing to connect the two working connections, are also symmetrically formed and are approximately equivalent in length. The first passageway uses a check valve arrangement to restrict fluid flow from the first working connection to the second working connection while the second passageway uses a similar check valve arrangement to restrict fluid flow in the opposite direction. The two passageways interconnect at a crossover duct which acts as a guide for the throttling arrangement. A slide member, having a throttle face formed on a circumferential surface, is movable in relation to a throttle surface formed on the housing such that, a restriction is introduced to the fluid flow in both the first and second passageways. A motor drive/transmission arrangement controls movement of the slide in response to bending parameters established for the articulated vehicle. A relief valve provided in the first passageway, bypasses the throttling arrangement should an excessive fluid pressure occur.
