    • A deer grunt or similar game call has a tubular mouthpiece and a sound tube. The interior of the mouthpiece contains a reed holder assembly that defines an airway between the mouthpiece and sound tube and generates sound when air passes through it. The assembly includes an elongated reed holder that extends proximally-distally in the mouthpiece and an flat reed disposed on one radial-facing surface of the reed holder. The reed is affixed to the holder at its distal end, and its proximal end is free. The grunt or game call is provided with one or more tuning clips that can be removably installed into the mouthpiece to limit the effective vibrating length of the reed and alter the sound of the call or grunt. Each tuning clip can include a U-shaped clip portion that fits snugly over the rim of the mouthpiece, a shank or shaft that extends a predetermined distance axially into the mouthpiece, and a transverse, T-shaped reed stop at the distal end. The reed stop contacts the reed at a predetermined location to define a factory-set limited vibrating length for the reed. The grunt can be used with no clip for a deep grunt sound, a long clip for a higher grunt sound, and a short clip for a bleat sound.

    • Disclosed is an instrument useful for effecting aspiration and irrigation during ophthalmic surgery. The disclosed embodiment comprises two, telescopically disposed cannulae and a connector which couples the two cannuli and forms fluid-tight seals with each. Each cannula consists of a rigid, small-diameter tube and a Luer hub (or "mount") coaxial therewith. The tube of the inner cannula is telescopically disposed within the outer cannula, the diameters of the cannulae being such that a passage is defined therebetween. The connector is of one-piece, rigid construction and includes a generally cylindrical body having a first nipple extending axially from one of its ends and a second nipple extending radially from one side. The first nipple is frictionally engaged within and forms a fluid-tight seal with the hub of the outer cannula. A cavity extends from the end of the first nipple through the body of the connector and terminates at the end of the body remote from the nipple. The tube of the inner cannula extends through the cavity and the hub and tube of the outer cannula. A portion of the connector body defining the mentioned cavity forms a fluid-tight seal with the exterior of the tube of the inner cannula. A passage extends from the cavity in the connector to the tip of the second nipple. The second nipple is coupled to a tubing via which irrigating fluid can be supplied to the instrument. In use, irrigating fluid is transmitted via the passage through the second nipple to the cavity and thence through the passage defined between the inner and outer cannulae. The hub of the inner cannula is connected to a syringe by which a vacuum can be applied to the passage defined by the inner cannula to effect aspiration of fluid from the surgical site through the inner cannula.

    • An arrow rest for an archery bow has multiple low-friction rollers that are disposed on respective sides of the arrow shaft. A mounting slide is adjustably attached onto the riser of the bow; a block portion is formed on a proximal end of the mounting slide; and a rest portion is adjustably mounted on the block portion. A dovetail slide arrangement permits left-to-right center shot adjustment of the rest portion in respect to the bow riser. First and second guide rollers are positioned on upper and lower arms disposed in a transverse support plane. The first and second guide rollers are displaceable over a limited axial distance within the support plane but only in a direction perpendicular to a radius from the arrow shaft, and are not displaceable in a direction radial to the axis of the arrow shaft. A third guide roller is incorporated into a burger button mechanism, with spring action to hold the associated third guide roller in contact with the arrow shaft.
