    • In one aspect, a wellbore system including a longitudinal member disposed within a wellbore; a retention device associated with the longitudinal member, wherein the retention device is configured to deploy in response to a critical fluid flow rate to decelerate the longitudinal member subject to an unimpeded travel within the wellbore. In another aspect, a method of retaining a longitudinal member within a wellbore, including providing the longitudinal member within the wellbore; associating a retention device with the longitudinal member; subjecting the longitudinal member to an unimpeded travel within the wellbore; deploying the retention device in response to a critical fluid flow rate; and decelerating the longitudinal member within the wellbore via the retention device.

    • A safety gate locking strap configured to prevent an opening of a safety gate by a child or pet is disclosed herein. In one or more embodiments, the safety gate locking strap includes a strap portion having a first end portion and an oppositely disposed second end portion; a fastening member coupled to the strap portion, which is configured to enable the first end portion of the strap portion to be engaged to, and disengaged from, the second end portion of the strap portion by a user; and a protrusion extending from the strap portion, the protrusion configured to engage with a groove in a component of a safety gate so as to prevent the safety gate from being opened by a child or a pet. A safety gate assembly and method of securing a safety gate, each of which utilize the safety gate locking strap, are also disclosed herein.

    • A packer features spaced apart sealing elements with an extrusion barrier between them. When the packer is set the extrusion barrier is protected from debris in the well. The barrier provides full circumferential extrusion protection using one or more rings made of wedge shaped segments that have a keyway at their edges and are assembled in an alternating manner so as to be able to increase or decrease in diameter when mandrel components are moved toward or away from each other. The segments have an opening through which a mandrel projection extends so as to force the segments into the smaller diameter for removal. Travel stops for the segments in the form of machined flats are provided on the relatively movable mandrel components.
