    • A mold especially adapted for forming precast, waffle-shaped concrete panels employs a one-piece mold body of flexible plastic sheet material to which rigid side rails are secured by tongue and groove longitudinal joints. The mold may be rapidly stripped and reset due to a hinge action provided by partial sides of the flexible body to which the rigid side rails are joined. The side rails and other structural features provide a simple mold structure that may be readily and efficiently employed for on-site production of panels. The configuration of the side rails and associated joints facilitates the replacement of a wornout mold body. A cover may be placed over the mold body while the concrete cures and automatically lifted therefrom after a predetermined time to allow the concrete to cool. Recess formers and connector covers for the panels are provided for appearance and security.

    • A mold especially adapted for forming precast, waffle-shaped concrete panels employs a one-piece mold body of plastic sheet material to provide a reusable mold structure that may be rapidly stripped and reset. Each corner of the mold body is open; thus, the sides of the mold present pliable flaps due to the inherent flexibility of the sheet material and are swung outwardly after molding is completed in order to release the molded product. External reinforcing members on the sides maintain the same rigid and true during the molding process. The corners are held closed by simple locking devices which are readily released for stripping. Raised portions in the mold body form the characteristic voids in the molded waffle product, and are reinforced and rigidified by a foam filler. Other features include longitudinally extending expansion joints between the mold body and reinforcing members, holdups on the pliable sides of the precasting mold, and the provision of built-in rebar supports which also form notches in the webs of the molded waffle product that serve as electrical and plumbing raceways.

    • An artificial reef is designed for replacing and protecting naturally occurring reef structures. The artificial reef comprises multiple vertically stacked concrete panels separated by spacing blocks. The panels and spacing blocks are fixed together by reinforcement rods which are held in place by epoxy grout. The concrete panels of the reef have a flat upper service and an under surface of a waffled configuration and are stacked in a manner to permit substantially all of the surface area to be exposed to the estuarine environment. The waffled configuration provides a complex shape to the reef and encourages both calm and turbulent water flow within the reef so as to avoid areas of water stagnation. The modular nature of the panels permits wide flexibility in size and shape of the reef. The use of concrete provides an inert, non-corroding composition of the reef and permits on shore construction of the reef. Lifting rings embedded in the top surface of the artificial reef permit deployment by a crane.

    • A precast concrete roof trim system comprising linear edge segments installed in the side edges of a roof and corner segments installed on the corners of the roof. The corner segments each have free ends engaging the corresponding ends of a spaced pair of the edge segments. Each edge and corner segment has a roof engaging portion with a first surface and a second surface. The first surface engages the roof when the segment is in a first position, and the second surface, which is transverse to the first surface, engages the roof when the segment is in a second position. Each segment has an extension which overhangs the roof when the segment is in the first position and extends upwardly from the roof when the segment is in the second position.

    • An artificial reef of lightweight construction employs a dome-shaped, thin-walled enclosure of plastic material having apertures therein to permit acquatic life to enter and exit. The enclosure has a circular perimeter that is provided with a circumferential trough integrally formed with the enclosure. At a staging area adjacent the installation site, concrete ballast is poured into the trough to form a perimetrical weight which holds the reef in position on the desired underwater surface. The construction allows the reef to be installed from the surface of the water by releasing it over the site and permitting it to parachute downwardly through the water until it comes to rest.

    • A pre-cast concrete form for cast-in-place beams and columns and a method of forming the same. The form includes a form body having a channel through a length thereof and a shear bonding key along the length, the channel being adapted to receive cast-in-place concrete therein to form a beam or column. The shear bonding key is integrally formed in the body and has a grooved portion and a ribbed portion for bonding the cast-in-place concrete to the form body. The form body may further include a reinforcing stirrup tie cast therein and extending into the channel, adapted to secure the form body to an opposed form body. The form body may include a plurality of shear bonding keys and reinforcing stirrup ties spaced apart along the length thereof. The method includes the steps of positioning a pre-cast concrete form having a channel extending therethrough, pouring the cast-in-place concrete into the channel of the form, and bonding the concrete to the form with a shear bonding key integrally formed along the channel of the form. This method may further include the step of securing opposed forms together with a reinforcing stirrup tie extending from the forms into the cast-in-place concrete.
