    • A sound lens speaker system includes a concave sound lens, two upper frequency drivers, and a lower mid/low frequency driver. The mid/low frequency driver is oriented to fire sound waves towards the apex of the sound lens. The two high frequency drivers are positioned off axis between the mid/low frequency driver and the apex of the sound lens, and are preferably angled toward the apex of the sound lens. Sound waves from the high frequency drivers and mid/low driver are reflected by the sound lens into a downward substantially focused beam of full frequency spectrum sound. In a preferred embodiment, the sound lens has an upper parabolic portion and a coaxial lower parabolic portion defined by different parabolic equations and each having a respective focus. The high frequency drivers are preferably located along an arc through the upper focus and the mid/low frequency driver is substantially vertically aligned with the lower focus.

    • A directional speaker system includes an enclosure having an inner surface, an outer surface, an open end, and a closed end, a speaker driver directed toward the open end and mounted near the closed end of the enclosure, an in-line phase plug mounted in front of the speaker driver for manipulating the wavefront of sound waves produced by the speaker driver, and a preferably frustoconical shaped wave guide provided between the speaker driver and the open end of the speaker enclosure. The in-line phase plug preferably has a plurality of channels. The open end of the enclosure is preferably provided with an acoustically absorbent material around its inner perimeter. A second acoustically absorbent material is provided between the speaker driver, the in-line phase plug, and the wave guide, and the speaker enclosure. The in-line phase plug, wave guide phase plug and baffle plate operate to flatten the wavefront.

    • An open back speaker module includes a speaker mounting element having a front face defining at least one sound transducer opening and a rim provided with a first set of electrical contacts, and at least one sound transducer for creating sound waves mounted to the sound transducer opening of the speaker mounting element. The open back speaker module is couplable to a structural element such that the speaker module and the structural element at least partially define a chamber behind the sound transducer. A receptacle or a gasket, couplable to the structural element and adapted to engage or be engaged by the speaker mounting element, may also be provided to help secure the open back speaker module to the structural element. The speaker module, receptacle, and the gasket are preferably flexible such that they may conform to any shaped of structural element. However, the speaker module and/or the receptacle may instead be rigidly formed and pre-shaped to conform to the shape of a specific structural element. Additionally, the front of the speaker mounting element may be provided with a plurality of undulations which increase flexibility and improve the acoustics of the speaker.

    • A projection screen is constructed of an open mesh fabric central portion for imaging a projected image, a sturdier border, and hanging hardware at each of the corners of the border. The central portion is constructed of a knit of multiple synthetic fibers twisted together and provides a screen with high diffusion. The open mesh provides substantial transparency to the screen when no image is being projected onto the screen permitting the screen to be used in a manner in which it will not act as a significant visual barrier when installed but not in use. The screen is mounted with hanging hardware that pulls the border and central portion taut. The screen when installed and taut has high diffusion and permits both front and rear projection with substantially equal brightness at both sides of the screen.
