    • An electron emission device includes first and second substrates opposing one another with a gap therebetween. Cathode electrodes are formed on the first substrate. An insulation layer is formed covering the cathode electrodes and having apertures. Gate electrodes are formed on the insulation layer and have apertures at locations corresponding to the locations of the apertures of the insulation layer so as to expose the cathode electrodes. Electron emission regions are formed in the apertures on the cathode electrodes. An anode electrode is formed on the second substrate. An outer surface of the electron emission regions is formed with a shape similar to a shape of equipotential lines formed when there is no electron emission region in the apertures, and predetermined drive voltages are applied to the electrodes.

    • An electron emission device includes a first substrate; a second substrate facing the first substrate and spaced apart from the first substrate; an electron emission unit on the first substrate, the electron emission unit having at least two electrodes and an emission region for emitting electrons; and a light emission unit on the second substrate to be excited by a beam formed with the electrons. The electron emission unit includes a focusing electrode for focusing the beam. The light emission unit includes a screen on which pixels are arranged in a pattern. Each of the pixels has a phosphor layer. The phosphor layer of one of the pixels is excited by the beam. The focusing electrode includes an opening, through which the beam passes. A length of the opening is LV, a pitch of a pixel is PV, and LV and PV satisfy: 0.25 ≦LV/PV≦0.60.

    • An electron emission device where the electron emission of the emitter at the respective pixels is uniformly controlled. The electron emission device includes first and second substrates facing each other with a distance, and gate and cathode electrodes formed on the first substrate while interposing an insulating layer. Electron emission sources are electrically connected to the respective cathode electrodes. A resistance layer is disposed between the cathode electrode and the electron emission source in substantially the same plane as the cathode electrode. At least one anode electrode is formed on the second substrate. A phosphor screen is placed on a surface of the anode electrode.
