    • A mechanical connector for oil and gas well apparatus applies a predetermined preload across the connection, the preload being adapted to accommodate relatively large dimensional tolerances in the loadpath of the connector preload by placing a component with a low modulus of elasticity within that load path. In one embodiment, the connector comprises fingers (3) of a pair of pipe flanges (1, 1′), a stationary retainer ring (14) against which a finger reaction surface (13) is pressed, a runner ring (15) located outside the fingers and movable lengthwise along the fingers by an actuator (16), the retainer ring and the runner ring having an elasticity that is so large that deviations in their elongation only have a small influence on the retainer ring and the runner ring radial pressure against the fingers and clamping forces of the fingers against the flanges. In a second embodiment, the connector comprises dogs (103, FIG. 4) located around the circumference of a first tubular joint component, a follower located outside the dogs (103) and movable axially of the dogs, the low elastic modulus component being a ring located in the loadpath below the dogs. In a third embodiment, the connector comprises a lockdown mechanism acting between nested components, the low elastic modulus component being an insert comprising a load shoulder transferring loads between the nested components.

    • The present invention is directed to a method and system for adjusting a gear map. The present invention can be an automobile including a continuously variable transmission system, an ignition detecting ignition data, and/or a display unit. The continuously variable transmission system can include a continuously variable transmission, a memory storing a gear map including virtual gears, a gear adjustment mode input unit detecting gear adjustment mode data, and/or a processor. The processor can control the continuously variable transmission to operate at a desired engine speed for a specific automobile speed using the gear map. The processor can adjust the gear map using the gear adjustment mode data, and/or the ignition data. The processor can control the display unit to display information to prompt the user to supply the gear adjustment mode data.

    • The present invention is directed to various embodiments of a subsea production system. In one illustrative embodiment, the system is adapted to be coupled to a subsea wellhead and comprises a tubing hanger adapted to be positioned in the wellhead, the tubing hanger comprising a flow opening extending therethrough and at least one eccentrically located opening extending through the tubing hanger, the tubing hanger adapted to be not precisely oriented with respect to a fixed reference point when positioned in the wellhead, and a production tree adapted to be operatively coupled to the tubing hanger, wherein the production tree is oriented relative to the tubing hanger. In other embodiments, the tubing hanger is riot oriented with respect to the wellhead or other fixed reference point.
