    • A push-push arrangement includes a housing, a pusher supported in the housing to be rotatable and axially movable, and a ring surrounding the pusher and supported in an axially fixed and rotatable manner. A first diverting surface on the pusher engages a projection of the ring and rotates the ring when the pusher is moved into the housing by a first stroke. A locking recess on the pusher receives the projection when the pusher is released after the first stroke and locks the pusher in a locking position after a reverse stroke. A second diverting surface engages the projection when the pusher is moved out of the locking position by a second stroke further into the housing, whereby the pusher is movable out of the ring into its furthest extended position. The projection of the ring exits through an opening at the inner actuation end of the pusher.

    • The invention disclosed herein relates generally to mailpieces and more particularly, a hazardous material detector for detecting hazardous material in a mail stream. The present invention is directed, in general to detector for collecting sample(s) of hazardous materials from a mail processing device. The mailpiece generally comprises an envelope comprising a front side and a back side; holes formed in at least one of the front side or the back side of the envelope; a hazardous material test strip for detecting the presence of hazardous material in contact with the test strip; whereby when hazardous materials are detected by the hazardous material test strip a physical change occurs to the hazardous material test strip and the physical change can be viewed through at least one hole formed in the at least one of the front side or the back side of the envelope. The detector helps to quickly determine whether hazardous materials are present in the mail stream.

    • The invention relates to a method for manufacturing barber scissors (1), wherein the scissor blades (23, 33) are pre-shaped from blanks by a predetermined degree of curvature in the direction facing away from the edge. Subsequently the welding beads are ground so as to form the edges (24, 34), and the scissor halves (2, 3) are pre-set and hardened. Then the barber scissors (1) are hard-set in the assembled condition. The invention furthermore relates to barber scissors (1) having such a configuration. Here the edges (24, 34) are present as massive material over the entire thickness of the scissor blades (23, 33), so that even severally repeated re-grinding or re-setting of the barber scissors (1) is possible without any loss of functionality.

    • This invention relates to a method and apparatus for integrating a newly formed continuous filament into a continuous strand. Mechanically complicated prior integration devices are usually expensive to purchase and operate and do not always ensure that the initially formed section of the new filament is separated from the new filament, that the fiber diameter of the new filament is predrawn sufficiently for ready integration, or ensure the reliability of the guiding elements facilitating integration. The present invention includes the operations of drawing a plurality of continuous filaments 3 from a bushing 1 into a fiber fan 4 by gathering the filaments 3 into a continuous strand 6 at a deflection point or roller 5. Should one of the filaments 3 break, a new continuous filament 8 is formed which is deflected by a guide plate 9 toward the point 5. A water stream 13 separates the filament 8 from its associated initially formed section and concomitantly predraws the filament 8 to an initial fiber diameter conducive to integration. The filament 8 is further predrawn and conducted by the stream 13 between guide bars 15 to a point 5 where the strand 6 and the filament 8 are jointly deflected along a common path X defined at least by the point 5 and another point or roller 7 such that the newly formed filament 8 is drawn to its final fiber diameter and integrated with strand 6.
