摘要： The rowing measurement system provides methods and apparatus for improving the performance of a boat by measuring the effect of boat deceleration and providing in-boat feedback to the crew so they can minimize the effect. Specific boat data including speed, distance, stroke rate, acceleration and deceleration can be derived from the deceleration measurements. The data is then processed, displayed, and stored to memory to provide feedback on the boat and crew's performance to the rowers and coaches both in real time and for later analysis. The performance of the boat is measured by an accelerometer and timing device, providing basis for calculating speed, stroke rate, distance, and a deceleration factor without sensors external to the boat. The information on the rowers and the boat is then displayed in real time to the coxswain or head rower to provide immediate feedback on their performance. The data is stored at the CoxDisplay for transmission to the coach or communication to a computer for further display, analysis, communication, and charting a team's improvements.

摘要： A system for dispensing a metered volume of heated water to the brew chamber of a single serve beverage dispenser. The system includes a storage tank for containing a supply of unheated water and a dispensing tank. A delivery line communicates with the brew chamber and with the dispensing tank at an intermediate level demarcating the interior of dispensing tank into upper and lower compartment. The volume of the upper compartment is equal to the metered volume. A vent valve communicates via a vent line with the upper compartment. A supply line connects the storage tank to the lower compartment. An air pump is arranged to deliver pressurized air to the upper compartment. A water pump in the supply line is arranged to deliver water from the storage tank to the lower compartment. A heater for heating water received in the dispensing tank. A sensing mechanism for generating control signals indicative of the level and temperature of water in the dispensing tank. A controller enabled by control signals generated by the sensing means and operative in response to a brew signal for operating the air and water pumps in conjunction with the opening and closure of the vent valve to fill the upper compartment with heated water displaced from the lower compartment and to discharge the thus displaced heated water from the upper compartment to the brew chamber.

摘要： At least two substantially purified tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors are disclosed which are glycoproteins that are active against TNF. The isolation of 3O kDa and 40 KDa TNF inhibitor from urine is disclosed. The deglycosylated form of the 3O kDa TNF inhibitor and 40 kDa TNF inhibitor are described as being active against TNF. The 40 kDa TNF inhibitor is active against both TNF alpha a TNF beta. The amino acid sequence of the 30 kDa TNF inhibitor and the 40 kDa TNF inhibitor are disclosed. Methods for isolating the TNF inhibitors from human U937 cell medium and producing the proteins by recombinant-DNA methods are also described.
