An exemplary system includes a receiving station that receives a mobile device; and a display unit that presents, to a driver or a passenger in the automobile, visual information in response to one or more instructions input to the mobile device. The display unit of the system is separate from the mobile device's display. In some embodiments, the display is a mirror, while, in other embodiments, the display is an electronic display. In some embodiments, the receiving station has the ability to receive mobile devices of a plurality of types.
