摘要： Embodiments of the invention provide a method for compensating for an acceleration vector offset of an acceleration detector, a recording medium storing a program for executing the method, and an apparatus adapted to perform the method. The method comprises determining whether the acceleration detector is in a stable resting state; if the acceleration detector is determined to be in a stable resting state, then determining whether any one of at least two orthogonal axes is a main axis; and, if the acceleration detector is determined to be in a stable resting state and one of the at least two orthogonal axes is determined to be a main axis, performing an acceleration vector compensation operation to compensate for the acceleration vector offset of the acceleration detector.

The retract control method includes performing a retract operation of retracting a head on the ramp, determining whether the head is normally retracted on the ramp, when it is determined that the head is not normally retracted on the ramp, moving the head to a predetermined zone of a disk, and when the head arrives at the predetermined zone of the disk, parking the head in the predetermined zone of the disk by stopping a spindle motor. Accordingly, even when a retract operation fails, a reliable retract operation can be performed by retrying the retract operation while adjusting one or more retract parameters.

摘要： The present invention relates to a hard disk drive performing a seek control method using a multi-sinusoidal wave acceleration profile, where the seek control method is capable of coping with a variation in a voice coil motor driving current due to variances in a peripheral environment. The seek control method of the present invention includes: calculating a seek time scaling (STC) related to variations in a voice coil motor (VCM) driving current due to variation in a peripheral environment; calculating an acceleration distance ratio (ALR) of an acceleration distance to a maximum seek distance without a coast mode according to the STC; calculating position profiles in an acceleration mode, the coast mode and a deceleration mode, respectively, using both the STC and the ALR; and performing a seek operation by generating the VCM driving current according to the position profiles and applying the VCM driving current to a VCM.
