The channel changing method is used in an image display apparatus for displaying an image included in a received transport stream, and includes blocking the received transport stream when a channel changing command is inputted, and removing the block of the received transport stream when a channel change is determined as completed. The method changes a channel controlling the image signal transport stream received for an interval difference that a tuner selects a changed channel, thereby ensuring a mapping of a virtual channel table (VCT) not to go crisscross in the channel change.
