    • A system for treating and preventing multiple forms of acne includes applying a solution to the skin to assist maintaining the skin's natural acidic mantle of 4.0 to 6.5, preserve moisture transport properties, and maintain specialized lipid content, allowing the skin to function normally, and assisting the skin to heal wounds caused by acne and associated bacterial infections. The method steps include one or more of the following: applying the formulation with surfactants incorporated therein to the skin as a cleanser, rinsing with water; applying the solution, with or without surfactants, and allowing the solution to air dry; repeating the applications and allowing them to air dry throughout the day; and repeating the cleansing and rinsing steps and applying the solution and allowing to air dry before retiring. One or more of the method steps may be repeated on a continual basis, typically daily, for an extended period of time.

    • Method of using an antiseptic and pH modulating solution provides improved health outcomes in part by decolonizing surfaces, animate and inanimate, and improving tissue function and stress response, particularly the barrier properties and antimicrobial properties of tissues, especially skin and muscles, whether damaged or intact and at risk of damage. The method includes initial application followed by continued topical application on a periodic basis until the damaged area is restored or the risk of injury has passed, followed by continued maintenance application for a period of time thereafter. The method of using the solution is believed to restore and improve the functioning of tissues that naturally interrupt pathogenic mechanisms of disease in addition to providing antimicrobial support. The method can be adapted to improve a plurality of health or consumer care outcomes, from preventing or substantially reducing rates of hospital acquired infections to improving muscle performance and recovery, among others.

    • A method for insertion, maintenance, and removal of urethral catheters in mammals including humans includes steps for preventing or reducing the incidence of catheter associated urinary tract infections. In addition to sterile procedures currently practiced or as may be practiced in the future in connection with catheter use, the method includes the steps of applying an antiseptic, zwitterionic, and acidic skincare solution capable of preserving the stratum corneum to the perineum, meatus, and contiguous mucosa surrounding the insertion site before insertion, after insertion, periodically during the period of indwelling, in connection with any incidence of incontinence, and, optionally, before and after removal of the catheter. Application of the solution optionally is continued after catheter removal on a periodic basis until the threat of an infection associated with catheter use has passed, typically at least about five (5) to seven (7) days and up to thirty (30) days. The solution pH is desirably from about 4.4 to 5.5.
