摘要： An apparatus and method of a mobile access node selecting a data transmission rate is disclosed. The method includes the mobile access node receiving beacons from a plurality of wireless clusters. Each beacon advertises a data transmission rate a gateway of the wireless cluster that originates the beacon. The mobile access node identifies at least one qualified routing path. The at least one qualified routing path includes a best quality routing path, and other routing paths having a quality within a predetermined margin of the best quality routing path. The mobile access node selects the data transmission rate of the mobile access node to be the lowest data transmission rate advertised by beacons of the at least one qualified routing path.

摘要： A method that includes a client roaming from the first access node to a second access node is disclosed. The second wireless access node detects the client seeking access to the system. The second wireless access node is able to connect to the backbone network. Client information is obtained. The second wireless node provides the client a communication path to and from the destination. The communication path is able to include wired and wireless communication links. Routing of information through the communication path between the client and the destination is aided based upon detection of the client. The wireless connection between the second access node and the backbone network can include at least one wireless hop between the second access node and a fourth access node.

The method includes receiving routing packets from at least one upstream access node, the routing packets including information of at least one upstream access node along a path to a gateway access node. A weight is assigned to each received routing packet, wherein the weight is dependent on how recently the routing packet is received. A packet success rate is calculated for each upstream access node by summing routing packets weights over a period of time for each upstream access node. The mobile node selecting the routing path through one of the at least one upstream access node based upon the packet success rate of routing packets received from each upstream access node.

摘要： Embodiments of methods of assigning a channel to a link of an access node within a wireless mesh network, is disclosed. The method includes the access node receiving beacons over multiple channels, from at least one upstream device, and the access node selecting an uplink channel based upon the received beacons. Additional methods include the access node selecting a downlink channel so that different channels are assigned to consecutive links within a data path between a gateway and a down stream device. The different channels can include non-overlapping channels, or a combination of non-overlapping and at least partially overlapping channels. The method can further include selecting a downstream link channel based upon predetermined sequences of channel selections, and a hop count of the access node.

摘要： An apparatus and method of a mobile node selecting a transmission channel of a mesh network is disclosed. The method includes the mobile node detecting a quality of routing beacons received over a previously selected transmission channel. If the quality of the routing beacons is below a predetermined threshold, then the mobile node transmits probe requests on each of a plurality of available transmission channels. Responses to the probe request are collected from at least one upstream access nodes over at least one of the available transmission channels. A new transmission channel is selected based upon the responses received over the available transmission channels.
