    • A multi-frequency, noise optimized active antenna consisting of one or several actively tuned antennas optimized over incremental bandwidths and capable of tuning over a large total bandwidth. One or multiple impedance transformers are connected to the antennas at an optimal location, with the transformers acting to reduce the impedance for optimal coupling to a transceiver/receiver. Active components can be incorporated into the antenna structures to provide yet additional extension of the bandwidth along with increased optimization of antenna performance over the frequency range of the antenna. The radiating elements can be co-located with a ferrite material and/or active components coupled to the element to tune across a wide frequency range.

    • The present invention relates to a blood glucose meter (200) comprising a blood glucose measuring module (234) for performing a blood glucose measuring function and a wireless communication module (236) adapted establishing a wireless communication link with an external device and exchanging information with the external device via the wireless communication link according to a predetermined frequency format and protocol. The blood glucose measuring module (234) and the wireless communication module (236) are physically-separate units electrically connected in order to allow for an exchange of electrical signals corresponding to information to be transmitted by the wireless communication module and/or information received by the wireless communication module (236). According to the invention, the blood glucose measuring module (234) and the wireless communication module (236) both comprise a connector component (238, 240), wherein the two connector components (238, 240) are adapted to releasably establish the electrical connection between the blood glucose measuring module (234) and the wireless communication module (236).

    • Generally, an antenna module includes a plurality of monopole antenna elements (e.g., 3 to 4 antenna elements) that can be coupled together by one or more switches to provide for a tunable, wideband antenna module. For example, the switches may change the overall length of the antenna such that the frequency range of the antenna is changed. The frequency response may also be controlled by a low voltage micro sized varicap, or a varactor diode, and instantiated as a tuned, resonant matching filter network residing with the antenna module. Additionally, switches may be used to “switch in” and “switch out” capacitive elements to adjust the bandwidth of the antenna. The resonant matching filter network may then be used for fine tuning the frequency of that bandwidth.

    • A system and method for providing a tunable antenna system within a mobile device that enables the mobile device to receive broadcast communication signals. The antenna system includes a tunable antenna and a tuning module that is operable to selectively adjust the resonant frequency of the tunable antenna, such that the antenna may efficiently receive a plurality of discrete narrow band signals across a broad frequency spectrum. The tuning module may also include a lookup table for use by the tuning module to selectively adjust the resonant frequency of the antenna. Further, the antenna system may include a temperature compensation module that is operable to compensate for any temperature sensitive components in the tunable antenna system.
