摘要： A computer system operating a web application with offline capabilities, including a web browser, a local web application, a write queue maintained in the local memory and a persistent local database. When the web application needs to perform an operation on a data item, the web application issues a database request to determine if the data item is in the local database. If the data item is not in the local database, the web application issues the data request to the server system. If the data item is in the local database, the web application performs the operation on the data item stored in the database and writes the operation to the write queue along with the identifier of the data item. When a network connection exits between the client device and the server system, the web interface drains the write queue to the server system.

The method involves determining, by a mobile computing device, an estimated geographic location of the mobile computing device. The method involves providing, on a display of the mobile computing device, one or more posted message icons that are presented in a layer over a map, where the one or more posted message icons represent the one or more posted messages. In a system, the one or more posted messages may not appear on mobile devices after a predetermined amount of time from their respective postings.

In one aspect of the invention, a client device may determine the user's location by using locally configured location services. The client device may also query a remote server that contains recent geolocation data of the user. Both the local and remote estimates may be presented to a user. The user may also be allowed to select the location that most accurately represents the user's current location.
