    • A lever in a lever type connector which is attached to a first housing, is rotated to fit the first housing to a second housing, and has a pair of side walls and an operation potion connecting the side walls. Locking arms are provided on the side walls so as to project toward an opening of the first housing into which the second housing is fitted. Temporary locking releasing portions are provided in the first housing. The locking arms are deformed into a state that a part of each of the locking arms is disposed on each of the temporary locking releasing portions, so that the lever is elastically deformed, when the lever is rotated. Each of the temporary locking releasing portions has an inclined face on which each of the locking arms is moved in a direction which the lever is elastically restored after the locking arms are deformed by the temporary locking releasing portions.

    • Retaining projections are formed on and project outwardly in a right-left direction respectively from right and left side walls of a spacer. The retaining projections are used for achieving a provisionally-retained condition and a completely-retained condition of the spacer. When the side walls are elastically deformed, the retaining projections slide over respective retaining portions of a connector housing to thereby achieve the retained condition. The side walls which can be elastically deformed inwardly in the forward-rearward direction form portions of right and left outermost terminal passage holes, and therefore must hold respective metal terminals, respectively. Therefore, holding projections are formed on and project inwardly in the right-left direction respectively from the side walls. These terminal holding projections serve to hold the respective metal terminals in predetermined positions.

    • The present invention is to provide a connector which is not subjected to an excess force when a locking securing unit is operated to remove engagement. The connector includes a male housing, a locking arm for engaging with a locking projection of a mating connector, a locking securing unit, and deformation switching portions. The locking securing unit is movably disposed between a regulation position to regulate a resilient deformation of the locking arm and an allowance position to allow the resilient deformation thereof. The deformation switching portions have a first interfering portion disposed on the locking arm and a second interfering portion disposed on the locking securing unit. When the locking securing unit is in the allowance position, the first and second interfering portions interfere each other and the locking arm resiliently deforms to remove engagement with the locking projection. When the locking securing unit is in the regulation position, the first and second interfering portions separate each other.
