    • A fluid-pressure-operated, double-acting working cylinder which dampens the final braking of the work piston, includes a cylinder housing with a movable work piston disposed therein, the work piston dividing the cylinder into two work chambers. A piston rod, on which the work piston is mounted, extends through the housing. At least one auxiliary braking member is disposed on at least one side of the work piston in an offset slidable relation to the work piston. A braking arrangement disposed on the auxiliary braking member is controlled by fluid pressure to brake the auxiliary braking member to a desired position within the cylinder. A dampening chamber, a dampening spring configuration is disposed between the auxiliary braking member work piston such that, following braking of the auxiliary braking member, continued movement of the work piston is effectively dampened. An auxiliary check valve formed in the auxiliary braking member allows communication of fluid pressure between the dampening chamber and the auxiliary braking arrangement to increase the effective braking of the auxiliary braking member. A throttle is disposed on the auxiliary braking member to allow communication of the fluid pressure in the dampening chamber to the work chamber into which the work piston is moving. A check valve is disposed between the pressurized work chamber and the dampening chamber to allow fluid pressure introduced to the pressurized work chamber to flow into the dampening chamber thereby pressurizing the dampening chamber as well.

    • This invention relates to an activation apparatus for valves, specifically electromagnetically-activated multiway valves. The activation apparatus exhibits an activation element having a first stop and a second stop, which are arranged in facing-relation to one another, and to a housing projection formed by a graduated opening leading into the valve, so that a movement of the activation element, in the direction of its longitudinal axis, is limited or prevented. On the circumference of the activation element, there is a sealing element which is in sealed contact against the wall of the housing recess or graduated opening, which holds the activation element. The two stops and the sealing element are permanently connected with the activation element so as to form essentially a single-body construction. A valve moving arrangement, formed on the activation member and extending into the valve housing, is movable to an engaged position whereby, operation of the activation member effects manual operation of the valve under emergency or manual conditions.

    • A variable point position determining arrangement includes a housing having a stationary portion secured to a fixed member as, for example working cylinder, and an extendable portion secured to a member movable in relation to the fixed member, as for example piston rod. An elastic element, such as a tension spring, is connected between the stationary portion and an extendable portion of the housing. Such elastic element is stretched or relaxed an amount proportionate to the travel of the movable member. The displacement transducer having an actuator rod and a projecting pin connected to the elastic element at approximately a middle point, follows movement of the elastic element and outputs a distance signal which is a function of the movement of the actuator rod and elastic element. The distance signal can be fed to a control circuit to derive the position value of the movable member therefrom.

    • A servo-operated multiway valve is disclosed which can be optionally used as both a pressurization valve and a ventilation valve for use with a fluid consuming device. The valve utilizes a valve body to allow fluid communication alternatively between two inlet/vent fluid chambers and an outlet fluid chamber disposed along a central bore, in which the valve body is located. The device utilizes a servo to displace the valve body of the multiway valve. Fluid may be introduced to the valve through either of two inlet/vent chambers, to alternatively allow fluid to flow to the outlet chamber in the resting or the activated mode of the servo. The servo is in fludi communication with the selected inlet chamber at all times, and does not communicate with the selected vent chamber. This is achieved through the use of dual passages, connecting each of the inlet/vent chambers to the servo. Fluid flows from the appropriate inlet chamber to the servo, through the associated passage. A check valve in each passage prevents backflow between the servo and the associated chamber, when that chamber is functioning as a vent.

    • A contactless proximity switch and mounting arrangement for determining the position of a movable member within a cylinder which has two end covers secured on the cylinder by means of a plurality of tie rods, includes a switch housing which secures to one of the tie rods. A contact opening formed in the switch housing has disposed therein, a switch having a pair of contacts and a permanent magnet disposed in a fixed manner. One pole of the permanent magnet is connected to a first contact, while the second pole is disposed in a contacting relation to the cylinder. A second contact is electrically coupled to the cylinder at a position a predetermined distance from where the second pole is disposed. As the movable member, which is constructed of a ferromagnetic material, nears the switch housing, the air gap between the second contact and second pole is bridged and the contacts close indicating the proximity of the movable member to the switch element. The entire proximity switch apparatus can be moved along the longitudinal axis of the cylinder.
