    • Method and device for treatment of a heart after harvesting and before transplantation. The device includes a container intended to comprise the heart; a first line for connection to an aorta of the heart; a fluid circuit comprising an oxygenator for oxygenating said fluid and a heater/cooler for regulating the temperature of said fluid; and a pump for perfusion of said fluid through the coronary blood vessels of the heart. The fluid includes an oncotic agent exerting an oncotic pressure larger than about 30 mmHg; and is cardioplegic by comprising a potassium concentration, which is between 15 mM and 30 mM. A control device is arranged for controlling the pump to perform said perfusion intermittently, whereby the perfusion time is less than half of the cycle time. The perfusion is performed at a pressure, which is at least 15 mmHg and at least 15 mmHg lower than said oncotic pressure.

    • An examination device for a heart. An afterload device connected to the aorta provides a counterpressure by an annular space delimited between a rigid cylinder and an elastic tube inserted in the rigid cylinder. The annular space comprises a compressible medium, such as air, nitrogen gas or carbon dioxide and is connected to a reservoir providing a predetermined pressure corresponding to a diastolic pressure. The reservoir is connected to the annular space via a restriction and a back-flow valve. During diastole, the annular space is inflated by the reservoir and provides a diastolic counter pressure for providing coronary flow. During systole, the ejected fluid from the heart ventricle displaces the medium inside the annular space through the restriction to the reservoir, thereby removing energy from the fluid. The compressible medium forms a compliance. In addition, there is a preload device comprising a vertical collapsible tube forming a fluid column for preload of the atrium with a desired preload pressure without introducing air into the fluid. A pump delivers fluid to the preload device and removes fluid from the afterload device.

    • A medical fluid for a harvested organ, tissue or parts thereof, for evaluation and/or preservation. The fluid includes cocaine or a stimulating analogue thereof; nor-adrenalin; and/or adrenaline. In addition, the fluid includes an oncotic agent, such as dextran; hormones, such as thyroxin; triiodotyronine; cortisone, insulin; and electrolytes and optionally nutrients in substantially physiological concentrations in a physiologically acceptable medium. In addition, the medical fluid further includes albumin in a concentration not exceeding 5.0%, and an oxygen carrier, such as erythrocytes. Further components may be dopamine; hydrocortisone; methylprednisolone; and a vasopressor agent, such as desmopressin. The cocaine; adrenalin; and noradrenaline are present in concentrations of each about 0.010 μM to 0.100 μM, for example in a ratio of 1:1:1.

    • A vessel for housing an organ such as lungs from a mammal ex-vivo, for evaluation or preservation. A liquid solution suitable for evaluation or preservation of the lungs surrounds the organ, at least partly. The solution is circulated via an outlet and an inlet. Two pressure chambers are arranged between the walls of the vessel and the organ. A gas is introducible to the pressure chamber in order to expand the pressure chamber for occupying the spaces surrounding the organ. Then, the pressure inside the pressure chambers is increased in order to push the solution to a higher level so that the organ is immersed in the solution without necessitating addition of further solution. Alternatively, the vessel is exposed to an under pressure and the pressure chambers are open to the atmosphere. In a further alternative embodiment, a solution collection space has variable volume.
