摘要： A gasifier system includes a reactor for receiving a wet feedstock which has a base and a container rotatably connected to the base such that a rotation of the container causes a mixing of the feedstock in an interior of the reactor. The interior is bounded by the base and the container. A space between the base and the container allows an entry of oxygen into the interior. The space has a dimension such that the feedstock is fully oxidized in a combustion area adjacent the base and such that the feedstock avoids combustion in a remainder of the interior. The reactor has a longitudinal axis inclined at an inclination angle relative to a horizontal line to promote the mixing of the feedstock in the interior.

摘要： A needle electrode is provided incorporating a protective flap and optionally a retraction chamber. By providing an impenetrable barrier covering the area of skin over the needle's tip, the protective flap protects against needle sticks that can occur when the tip of a needle electrode is pushed back out through the skin. An adhesive layer on the skin-side of the protective flap secures the needle in place without the use of a separate piece of adhesive tape. Other types of needles can incorporate flaps for protection or for securing the needle to the patient.

These embodiments are the result of methods that utilize polymerization processes including vapor phase polymerization (VPP) to form the conductive film comprising PEDOT. In one embodiment, the film can result from a method that includes steps for depositing a coating solution onto a substrate, exposing the substrate to a monomer source, and cleaning the substrate after polymerization. The coating solution can comprise an initiating oxidant, which facilitates growth of PEDOT from 3,4 ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT), as well as a quenching agent that neutralizes acid that results from polymerization.

摘要： The virtual telemicroscope system (VTS) of the present invention captures an entire image of a specimen on a test slide as an original high power image, signal processes the original high power image to generate a low power background image, generates an initial virtual slide based on the low power background image and posts and/or transmits the initial virtual slide to a remote user enabling the remote user to view the low power background image on a remote user's computer screen. While viewing the initial virtual slide, the remote user may identify (i.e., select) one or more specific areas on the background image and request the service provider to provide detailed images (e.g., higher magnified image than the background image) at the defined locations. In response, the VTS provides the remote user with the requested partial high power image by simply signal processing the original high power image and generating a secondary virtual slide based on the newly processed image. This process can be repeated until the remote user is satisfied with the viewing.

摘要： The present invention is directed to methods of measuring the proliferative ability of individual patient cancer stem cells. The present invention provides a method for treating a cancer patient according to an assay of the individual patient's tumor's cancer stem cell sensitivity, by measuring the proliferative ability of cancer stem cells from the patient. By the methods of the present invention it is possible to treat individual cancer stem cells presented in tumor cells. Methods of detecting and enumerating cancer stem cells in hybrid spheroids comprised of fibroblasts and tumor cells are also provided by the present invention. The present invention also contemplates a method for drug and other treatment development, wherein the effects of a drug or combination of drugs or other treatments are determined on the individual patient's cancer stem cells.
