    • A pallet device for supporting a fuel dispenser or other movable object comprises a pair of runner elements mounted in parallel and spaced apart relation. Each runner element defines a respective longitudinal channel, which together permit endwise insertion of lifting forks. A pair of side ports extend laterally from the longitudinal channel of each runner element. The respective side ports of the two runner elements are aligned to provide transverse channels for sidewise insertion of lifting forks. Preferably, the two runner elements are made from sheet metal components for consistent and lightweight construction.

    • A strainer for use with a dry hydrant having a fluid inlet includes an inlet tube having a first end and a second end, the first end being substantially capped, and the second end being connected to the dry hydrant fluid inlet. A plurality of apertures are formed in the inlet tube and are disposed between the first end and the second end. The apertures are disposed in a substantially v-shaped pattern, whereby an apex of the substantially v-shaped pattern is spaced proximal to the second end. In one embodiment of the present invention, the apertures spaced proximal to the first end of the inlet member have diameters greater than diameters of the apertures spaced proximal to the second end of the inlet member. In operation in a dry hydrant system, the strainer provides for uniform suction zone throughout the inlet pipe, and provides uniform fluid drafting flow.

    • An isolated current shunt transducer includes a current shunt that produces a voltage difference between the current shunt's first and second ends, with the voltage difference being related to a current flowing through the current shunt. The transducer also includes an isolation barrier positioned between the current shunt and a processing circuit to isolate the processing circuit from a voltage that is common to both ends of the current shunt. Two or more transducers may be included in a power meter for measuring power delivered to a load by a multiple phase power distribution circuit. In such a power meter, a processing circuit is connected to the current shunts through the isolation barriers and is operable to produce multiple phase power measurements based on the differences between the voltages at the first and second ends of the current shunts.

    • An improved laminated ferromagnetic FIG. 8 power meter core is provided. The core is fabricated from a plurality of ferromagnetic plates and is formed in the general shape of a FIG. 8. The central leg of the core has a cross-sectional area that is larger than the cross-sectional area of other parts of the core. The core gap, in which a Hall-effect sensor is located, has gap faces with chamfered or rounded over edges to reduce fringing and bypassing effects. The core is formed without discontinuous corners that can result in local saturation and, in use, accommodates electrical power conductors in an over-under looping relationship through the openings of the core to provide a more homogeneous magnetic flux within the core and thus more reliable metering. The overall result is a core with a higher saturation point and thus a wider dynamic range than prior art cores.

    • A gas meter installation comprises a gas meter and a regulator which are attached to a manifold. The manifold connects to a utility pipe for supplying gas and includes an orifice and various passageways for routing the gas from the utility pipe to the regulator, from the regulator to the meter, and from the meter to a house or other type of consumer. The manifold preferably has a shut-off valve integrated into the body of the manifold so that the manifold may be connected directly to the ground pipe without requiring a separate connection to a shut-off valve. The manifold greatly simplifies the installation by eliminating a number of pipes and fittings that were previously used to mount the shut-off valve, regulator, and meter together. The manifold also permits attachment and detachment of the meter or regulator independently of each other so that these components may be individually serviced or replaced.

    • A water meter and backflow preventer for use in a water supply system having a meter box includes a housing having water infeed and outfeed openings which are connected to supply water from a main utility pipeline to a water customer domestic system through a pair of infeed and outfeed shut-off valves and a water meter mounted within the housing. A double check valve is installed in the water circuit in the housing to enable use of the double check method of backflow prevention. Test ports are provided through the housing to enable the housing unit to be testable for leaks through the valves. The water meter and backflow preventer combines backflow prevention integrated with an AWWA-approved water meter in one product having the same overall lay length as a current water meter to eliminate the need for re-fitting pipe or using adapters within the meter box.
