    • A flat-panel display device, particularly, a liquid crystal display (LCD) and a plasma display panel (PDP), and manufacturing methods therefor are provided. To form spacers or barrier walls which locate between upper and lower substrates of the LCD or PDP to maintain the gap between two substrates to a predetermined distance, a laser transcription method is used. That is, a donor film including a base film, a light absorption layer and a transcription layer is put on the lower substrate of the LCD, in which a transparent substrate, a transparent electrode and an alignment layer are stacked in sequence, or on the lower substrate of the PDP, in which a transparent substrate, an address electrode and a dielectric layer are stacked in sequence, and then a laser beam is transcribed thereonto to form the spacers or barrier walls having uniform height and width. Therefore, the interval between two substrates is uniform, so that display characteristics can be enhanced through a simple manufacturing process.

    • A composition for a transparent conductive layer, a transparent conductive layer formed of the composition, and a method for forming the transparent conductive layer. The composition comprises a metal (M.sub.1) particle, a binding agent and a solvent, wherein the metal (M.sub.1) particle has an average particle diameter of 10.about.30 nm and is at least one selected from the group consisting of gold (Au), silver (Ag), platinum (Pt), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), cobalt (Co), rhodium (Rh), ruthenium (Ru), palladium (Pd) and tin (Sn), and wherein the binding agent is at least one compound selected from the group consisting of polypyrrole, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyvinylalcohol and silicon alkoxide oligomer. Therefore, the transparent conductive layer which is excellent in conductivity and transmittance can be formed by a low-temperature sintering process.

    • An aperture grill for a color cathode ray tube includes a mask having a plurality of slits, a frame for securing the mask in a taut state, and a vibration suppressing unit for suppressing the vibration of the mask. The vibration suppressing unit comprises a plurality of damping wires having ends fixed on opposing sides of the frame and stretched over the mask in a lengthwise direction, and a plurality of protrusions extending from the damping wires and spaced apart from each other a predetermined distance. The protrusions make contact with or are welded to slit formation elements of the mask, or are partly inserted into the slits and contact lateral sides of the neighboring slit formation elements to suppress vibration of the slit formation elements.

    • A method of manufacturing a fluorescent layer having a striped or dot pattern for a display device, including the steps of installing a donor film composed of a base film, a light absorbing layer, a buffering layer and a phosphor layer being departed from a substrate by predetermined distance, and irradiating an energy source to the donor film to transfer a phosphor from the phosphor layer to the surface of the substrate and then thermally treating the transferred phosphor. In the method, defects generated by dust or foreign substances are reduced so that manufacturing yield is improved compared to the conventional method. Also, the process is simple so that productivity is enhanced and a high resolution screen is realized.

    • A reinforced substrate for use in at least one of two substrates forming a flat panel display together with a display generating material filled between the two substrates, has a reinforcing structure for preventing bending of a substrate installed on one surface of the substrate. According to one embodiment, the reinforcing structure includes an array of hollow polygonal pillars formed of transparent glass or plastic. According to another embodiment, the reinforcing structure is made of transparent glass or plastic, and further includes an electrically conductive film which is coated on one end surface of the hollow polygonal pillars and is then grounded to block electromagnetic waves generated inside the flat panel display. According to a still another embodiment, the reinforcing structure is made of conductive metal, and one end of the array of hollow polygonal pillars is grounded to block electromagnetic waves generated inside the flat panel display.
