    • A dual polarized antenna element having improved antenna isolation is disclosed by the present invention. The antenna element includes a first feeder for feeding the antenna element in a first polarization direction, and a second feeder for feeding the antenna element in a second polarization direction. According to the present invention, a compensation line is arranged between the first and the second feeders for compensating for an imbalance caused by an essentially capacitive coupling between the first and second feeders. The compensation line is connected to the first and second feeders in close proximity to a radiating part of said antenna element, and has a short electrical length θ and a high impedance relative to an impedance of the first and second feeders, respectively, thereby giving the compensation line an essentially inductive character.

    • An improved control system for controlling the electrical tilt, i.e. the electrically controlled inclination of a radiated beam, of a base station antenna (70) with a vertical row of antenna elements is disclosed. The antenna includes a phase shifting device (73) including a tilt adjusting mechanism with a displaceable mechanical element for adjusting an electrical tilt setting of the antenna lobe being radiated from the antenna. The control system is divided into two parts, namely a first part, including the entire tilt adjusting mechanism (73), an electrical motor (75) and a position sensor (74), these elements constituting internal components being arranged inside the antenna casing (70), and a second part, including the remaining components of the control system, including an electrical motor control circuit (51; 61), and a logic circuit (56; 66) determining the electrical tilt setting. The external components are disposed in a separate, external control unit (50; 60) located outside but in the vicinity of the antenna casing (70), and are adapted for operative coupling, by way of a direct electric wire connection or a capacitive coupling, to the internal components (73,74,75) located inside the antenna casing.

    • An improved control system for controlling radiation direction of an antenna beam of an antenna is disclosed. The radiation direction is adjustable by an actuating device influencing phase shifting means based on an actuating signal. The system includes filtering means, arranged for filtering out a control signal and being connected, in use, to a feeder cable arranged for carrying RF signals and control signals. The system further includes an external control unit including detecting means, arranged for detecting the filtered out control signal, and control means, arranged for producing the actuating signal based on the detected control signal. The filtering means is directly connected to the external control unit so as to provide the filtered out control signal directly to the external control unit.
