    • An apparatus for introducing a high volume, low concentration non-condensable gas, which may contain sulfur into a chemical recovery steam generator furnace comprising: a plurality of gas inlet pipes, each gas inlet pipe having a source end and a nozzle end, in which the source end of the pipe is connected to a source of said high volume, low concentration non-condensable gas and the nozzle end of the pipe, which comprises a nozzle, vents to said chemical recovery steam generator furnace; a preheater positioned in close proximity to said pipe and upstream of said nozzle; a secondary air port with a source end and a furnace end, in which the source end of said port is connected to a source of such secondary air and the furnace end of said port vents to said chemical recovery steam generator furnace; wherein the area enclosed by said secondary air port is greater than the area of said nozzle and wherein said nozzle is positioned within the area enclosed by said secondary air port such that said pipe and said port are substantially co-axial with respect to one another is described.

    • A process is disclosed for bleaching pulp without chlorine containing chemicals and for greatly reducing total washing filtrate discharge, comprising the steps of: 1) sending pulp that has been subjected to continuous digestion, oxygen-delignification and then washing, through a washing press; 2) treating, with agitation, the delignified washed pulp with sulfuric acid and a chelating agent; 3) washing the pulp in a washing apparatus; 4) bleaching with hydrogen peroxide in a reaction vessel; 5) washing the hydrogen peroxide bleached pulp; 6) adding sulfuric acid and ozone with mixing of the pulp; 7) reacting the pulp with ozone in a reaction vessel; and 8) washing the ozone reacted pulp, wherein the majority of liquid filtrate from the bleaching process that is waste not to be recycled is drawn off from the washing apparatus of step 3, the washings in step 3 and 5 have at least 85% efficiency, filtrate from washing step 5 is recirculated to the washing apparatus of step 3, and filtrate from the washing apparatus of step 8 is recirculated and used in the washing apparatus for the washing of pulp after oxygen-delignification.

    • The present invention relates to a method for continuous cooking of kraft pulp in a single-vessel system (1), preferably a single-vessel hydraulic digester, with chips being conveyed from a high-pressure feeder (2) in a transfer line (2A, 4A) to a first end (3) of the digester (1), the chips being impregnated, in a liquid containing black liquor, in a concurrent impregnation zone (5), the chips being cooked in a cooking zone (6) subsequent to the impregnation zone, hot black liquor (7) being extracted from at least one extraction screen section (8), and cooked pulp being discharged (9) at the other end of the digester. The chips are, when they leave the high-pressure feeder (2), included in a first liquid, which first liquid is in the main separated from the chips in a liquid exchanger (4) installed in the transfer line (2A, 4A) and is replaced by a second liquid which contains black liquor.
