    • The invention comprises metal-organic compounds containing at least one divalent metal selected from zinc, lead, magnesium, cadmium, calcium, barium, beryllium, mercury, iron, cobalt, and nickel and at least one tetravalent element selected from silicon, titanium, tin, hafnium, and zirconium, connected through oxygen atoms, with carboxylic acid radicals attached to the divalent metals, and hydrocarbonoxy radicals attached to the tetravalent elements. The compounds may also be condensed by linking the tetravalent elements through oxygen-divalent metal links or through residues of di- or poly-functional hydroxyl compounds. The compounds are prepared by heating an alkoxide of a tetravalent element with a carboxylic acid salt of the divalent element. The alkoxide may be partially condensed and the divalent salt may be a basic salt or a salt of two mono-carboxylic acids with from 10 to 28 carbon atoms. The condensation process may be by hydrolysis with water, monohydric alcohols, or phenols or alkylene glycols, diphenylol propane, glycerine mono- and diesters of monocarboxylic acids and pentaerythritol partial esters or by processing tetravalent element alkoxides or condensed alkoxides which have been partially substituted by divalent metal acylates to 200 DEG to 370 DEG C. Divalent salts of acetic, propionic, isobutyric, naphthenic, pelargonic and tall oil fatty acids, and synthetic liquid or low-melting point acids are preferred and used in examples. Examples describe preparations of the compounds in stages to yield oily liquids, greasy, waxy, resinous or amorphous solids many of which are soluble in hydrocarbon solvents e.g. mineral oil oxygenated solvents and esters and are compatible with synthetic resins polymers and elastomers and may be used as stabilizers or lubricants.ALSO:The invention comprises metal-organic compounds containing at least one divalent metal selected from zinc, lead, magnesium, cadmium, calcium, barium, beryllium, mercury, iron, cobalt and nickel, at least one tetravalent element selected from silicon, titanium, tin, hafnium and zirconium connected through oxygen atoms, with carboxylic acid radicals attached to the divalent metals, and hydrocarbonoxy radicals attached to the tetravalent elements. The compounds may also be condensed by linking the tetravalent elements through oxygen atoms, or through oxygen-divalent metal links or through residues of di-or poly-functional hydroxyl compounds. The compounds are prepared by heating an alkoxide of a tetravalent element with a carboxylic acid salt of the divalent element.     • The invention comprises organic compounds containing (a) Al or B, (b) at least one divalent metal or metal radical and (c) at least one carboxylic acid radical, the Al or B atom and the divalent atoms being linked through oxygen atoms; alkoxy, aryloxy or alkaryloxy groups may also be present. Such compounds are prepared by condensing alkoxides or aryloxides of Al or B with acyloxides of divalent metals or radicals (e.g. of Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Zn, Cd, Fe, Co, Ni, Pb, Cu, Mn and (ZnO)); the alkoxides and aryloxides may be in the form of condensed compounds such as polyoxoaluminium alkoxides or aryloxides or alkyl or aryl metaborate or polyborate esters. The products of this reaction may be further condensed with PbO. An alternative method of preparing Pb-organic compounds of the invention is to condense a polyoxaluminium acylate with PbO. Any of the products of the process described may be reacted with dibasic acids or anhydrides, e.g. maleic acid or anhydride. The exemplified carboxylic acid radicals in the compounds of the invention are derived from acetic, propionic, 2-ethylhexanoic, methacrylic, naphthenic, tallow, resin, linseed oil or tall oil acids or stearin, maleic, phthalic, sebacic, azealic and dimerised fatty acids are also mentioned. Other specified groups present are (i) in Al compounds, isopropoxy, m-cresoxy, (ii) in B compounds, isobutoxy. Specifications 806,113, 825,878 and 861,171 are referred to.ALSO:Organic compounds containing (a) Al or B, (b) at least one divalent metal or metal radical and (c) at least one carboxylic acid radical, the Al or B and the divalent atoms being linked through oxygen atoms, are used as heat stabilizers or processing acids for P.V.C. The compounds may also contain alkoxy aryloxy or alkaryloxy groups. Stabilizers prepared from aluminium isopropoxide and cadmium tallate or cadmium oxide stearic product are exemplified. Said organic compounds may be polymers containing the repeating unit wherein T is component (a), D is component (b) and X as component (c), as described above, e.g. tallate (Example 5).
