    • A filter apparatus for filtering a liquid containing solid materials comprises a filter member made of a flexible sheet having a number of through holes which prevent passage of solid materials while allow passage of the liquid thereby filtering the liquid, first wipers which are slidably arranged over the surface of the filter member at the liquid inlet side and which scrape off the solid materials deposited on the surface of the filter member upon sliding movement thereof; second wipers which are slidably arranged over the surface of the filter member at the liquid outlet side; and driving mechanism for sliding the first and second wipers on the surfaces of the filter member at the same speed in the same direction so that the first and second wipers oppose each other with the filter member disposed therebetween.

    • A filter apparatus includes a mesh filter consisting of a flexible sheet having a smooth surface and a multiplicity of through-holes and formed into a cylindrical configuration. The leading edge of a scraper is brought into abutting contact with the outer surface of the cylindrically formed mesh filter, or two scrapers can be provided on the inner and outer surfaces of the mesh filter with their leading edges abutted against these surfaces. Provided within the mesh filter is a support shaft serving also as a discharge pipe. The discharge pipe discharges clean oil filtered by the mesh filter, and the support shaft rotatably supports the mesh filter. The cylindrical mesh filter is disposed in a tank for accommodating cutting oil or abrasive oil containing solid foreign matter such as cutting chips or abrasive grains. The mesh filter is rotated on the discharge pipe/support shaft by a drive mechanism. The oil containing the solid foreign matter is passed through the cylindrical mesh filter from the outer to the inner side thereof so that the foreign matter in the oil is trapped by the through-holes. The foreign matter thus trapped is scraped off the mesh filter by the scraper or scrapers as the mesh filter rotates.

    • A magnetic belt conveyor type magnetic particle separator comprises a storage tank for storing cutting oil containing magnetic particles, an endless belt conveyor extending sidewise from the storage tank in an upwardly inclined direction, and a magnet disposed beneath the forward run of the belt conveyor to extend in the direction of running thereof. Magnetic particles contained in the cutting oil are attracted by the forces of the magnet to the upper surface of the forward run of the belt conveyor to be conveyed up to the forward run end thereof and separated therefrom at the forward run end for being discharged. The magnetic belt conveyor type magnetic particle separator further comprises scrapers mounted on the inner surface of the belt conveyor in a uniformly spaced-apart relation in the direction of running of the belt conveyor and moved in unison therewith over the upper surface of the magnet such as to scrape magnetic particles off the upper surface of the magnet, and projections projecting from the outer surface of the belt conveyor such as to catch masses of magnetic particles rolling over the outer surface of the belt conveyor.
