    • A hydraulic brake booster is connected in series flow relationship in a vehicle hydraulic system between a source of fluid pressure and other hydraulic power equipment, such as a steering gear. The booster includes a housing with a bore in communication with an inlet connected to the source and an outlet connected to the steering gear. A piston having an end exposed to a boost chamber is shiftable in the bore from a first position to a second position by control valve means slidably carried in a central passage of the piston for controlling communication between the inlet and boost chamber. A hydraulic fluid system bypass valve separate from the control valve means, is located in the housing bore between the inlet and outlet for regulating inlet pressure and maintaining uninterrupted flow to the outlet upon shifting the piston.

    • A servomotor having a movable wall responsive to a pressure differential sequentially developed between vacuum and air at atmospheric pressure and vacuum and air above atmospheric pressure for supplying a brake actuator with an input force to operate a braking system. A series of poppet valves responsive to the movement of a plunger will control the sequential development of the pressure differential. A relief valve located in the wall will place an upper limit on the development of the pressure differential to assure that the input force that is created will not harm the braking system.

    • In a time frequency collision avoidance system wherein time is divided into epochs and each epoch is further divided into a predetermined number of time slots, the time of arrival of a range signal after a predetermined time in a time slot is a measure of the range between a local station and a remote station operating in the time slot. The range is measured by strobing a counter, which is set to zero at the beginning of each time slot, by a stable frequency source. Range rate is calculated by memorizing the counter contents and by comparing the memorized contents against counter contents resulting from a range signal received from the same remote station.

    • A fluid pressure actuated piston is slidably carried in a fluid pressure actuated cylinder which, in turn, is slidably carried in a fixed carrier and engageable with a fixed stop to extend the range of axial movement of the piston. The fluid pressure actuated cylinder is pressurized to a retracted position until a normally closed valve member is actuated to an open position by the piston at the end of a first permissible stroke thereof in said cylinder whereupon the cylinder is pressurized into engagement with said fixed stop in the direction of movement of said piston to thereby extend the permissible stroke of the piston accordingly.

    • A metering valve apparatus for transferring a servomotor force from a first piston to a second piston in response to an input force to produce an operational braking force. The first and second pistons are initially simultaneously moved by a differential pressure responsive movable wall to pressurize fluid in interconnected first and second chambers in response to the input force. A predetermined input force will independently move the second piston with respect to the first piston to interrupt the communication between the first chamber and the second chamber and allow pressurized fluid to escape into a third chamber. As the pressurized fluid escapes into the third chamber the wall will move to supply the second piston with the servomotor force to further pressurize the fluid in the second chamber.
