Example embodiments include a radar transceiver (200) having a normal mode of transmitter operation and a self-test mode of operation, the transceiver (200) comprising: a digital controller (116) configured to provide a digital control signal indicative of a phase shift; a digital to analogue converter (122) configured to receive the digital control signal and provide an analogue signal in accordance with the phase shift; a phase shifter (124) configured to receive the analogue signal and provide a phase shifted output signal for transmission; a dummy load (240) connected to receive the analogue signal from the digital to analogue converter (122) and to provide an analogue output; a resistor network (331) connected across an output of the dummy load (240); a testing module (335) configured to measure the analogue output of the dummy load (240); and a controller module (339) configured to control operation of the dummy load (240), testing module (335) and digital controller (116) during the self-test mode of operation by: enabling the dummy load (240); operating the digital controller (116) to provide a range of digital control signals to the digital to analogue converter (122); and operate the testing module (335) to measure the analogue output of the dummy load (240) to determine a measure of linearity of the digital to analogue converter (122).

摘要： In an embodiment, a method for authenticating a user of a car includes: transmitting a plurality of radiation pulses through a predetermined portion of a surface of the car towards a portion of a hand of the user using a millimeter-wave radar; receiving a reflected signal from the portion of the hand using the millimeter-wave radar; generating a fingerprint signature based on the reflected signal; comparing the fingerprint signature to a database of authorized fingerprint signatures; and authorizing the user based on whether the fingerprint signature matches an authorized fingerprint signature of the database of authorized fingerprint signatures.

摘要： Example radar systems are presented herein. A radar system may include radiating elements configured to radiate electromagnetic energy and arranged symmetrically in a linear array. The radiating elements comprise a set of radiating doublets and a set of radiating singlets. The radar system also includes a waveguide configured to guide electromagnetic energy between each of the plurality of radiating elements and a waveguide feed. The waveguide feed is coupled to the second side of the waveguide at a center location between a first half of the plurality of radiating elements and a second half of the plurality of radiating elements. The waveguide feed is configured to transfer electromagnetic energy between the waveguide and a component external to the waveguides. The radar system may also include a power dividing network defined by the waveguide and configured to divide the electromagnetic energy transferred by the waveguide feed based on a taper profile.

A method for operating an IC device involves setting a configuration of the IC device to select from available options of low-band and high-band operational modes, transmitting and receiving RF signals at a low-band frequency when the configuration of the IC device is set to the low-band operational mode, and transmitting and receiving RF signals at a high-band frequency when the configuration of the IC device is set to the high-band operational mode, wherein transmitting RF signals at the high-band frequency comprises upconverting a first signal at the low-band frequency to a second signal at the high-band frequency and wherein receiving RF signals at the high-band frequency comprises downconverting a third signal at the high-band frequency to a fourth signal at the low-band frequency, wherein the upconversion and the downconversion are implemented using a conversion signal at a conversion frequency.

摘要： Techniques are disclosed for detection and ranging systems and methods to improve range resolution, target separation, and reliability. A method includes selectively attenuating a signal representing a ranging system return or echo from targets so as to suppress side lobes or other undesirable artifacts appearing in the signal due to noise, interference, and/or distortion. A method may additionally or alternatively include rejecting interference events in ranging system returns by comparing a received return with that expected from a target illuminated by the ranging system, as determined by characteristics of its particular ranging sensor, and rejecting or attenuating returns or portions of returns that fail to match those characteristics in time or space. A system configured to perform such methods and comprising a transducer/antenna, a transceiver, a controller, and/or other logic devices implementing a pulse generator, correlator, selective attenuator, comparator, buffer, subtractor, and/or output circuit is also disclosed.
